The Most Important relationship is the relationship between a person and God. -speaking of your relationship with God.
God want to give you what you need to LOVE other people like he loves them.
God created all things. the whole world and everything in it. therefore He knows how it works best.
The Bible is our instruction book of how to do thing Gods ways.
Last time we gathered together we talked about the first four (4) commandments. These had to do with our relationship with God, I call this our vertical relationship because it has to do with God and myself.
Can anyone remember and tell me these four commandments?
The first four commandments, as found in the Bible (Exodus 20), are:
1. "I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. You shall have no other gods before me."
This commandment emphasizes the importance of acknowledging God as the one true God and not worshiping any other deities.
2. "You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing mercy to thousands of those who love me and keep my commandments."
This commandment prohibits the creation and worship of idols, emphasizing that God is unique and should be worshiped in spirit and truth.
3. "You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes his name in vain."
This commandment emphasizes the importance of respecting and reverencing God's name. It prohibits the misuse of God's name through profanity, blasphemy, or making false oaths.
4. "Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor, and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, you, your son, your daughter, your male servant, your female servant, your livestock, or your stranger who is within your gates. For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy."
This commandment emphasizes the importance of setting aside a day for rest and worship, recognizing God as the creator and observing the Sabbath as a day of spiritual renewal.
These commandments are considered foundational to the Jewish and Christian faiths and provide guidance on how to live a life that honors God.
