Genesis 6:1–3 NKJV
Now it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born to them, that the sons of God saw the daughters of men, that they were beautiful; and they took wives for themselves of all whom they chose. And the Lord said, “My Spirit shall not strive with man forever, for he is indeed flesh; yet his days shall be one hundred and twenty years.”
Theres much speculations about who are the sons of God. I believe
Genesis 6:4–5 NKJV
There were giants on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of men and they bore children to them. Those were the mighty men who were of old, men of renown. Then the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
Nephilim -”fallen ones" or "ones who fall violently upon others" Who fell from heaven Satan and his demons.
I think it was demons that possessed men and because of the intensity of evil who where lustful and murderous.
They weren’t divine in any way they died by the flood like any other creature that was left on the Ark.
Angel do not reproduce.
Matthew 22:30 NKJV
For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels of God in heaven.
Evil continually
Mans heart was even continually- every indication of his heart is evil from childhood!
This is possibly the strongest statement about sin in the Bible.
Man has taken the capacity that God has given Him and devoted to evil continually.
Before the Flood Jesus said that
Matthew 24:38 NKJV
For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark,
This seems like a harmless statement unto you read the context of the story which was man was corrupt and full of violence.
Genesis 6:11 NKJV
The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence.
Genesis 6:13 NKJV
And God said to Noah, “The end of all flesh has come before Me, for the earth is filled with violence through them; and behold, I will destroy them with the earth.
Genesis 6:6 NKJV
And the Lord was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart.
sorry- He was be grieved, i.e., be in a state of sorrow or regret over the world.
When it said it grieved Him at His heart. meaning that it filled Him with pain.
Lamach in looked for comfort from all his toil which was a result of the fall of humanity. Gen 5:29
Genesis 5:29 NKJV
And he called his name Noah, saying, “This one will comfort us concerning our work and the toil of our hands, because of the ground which the Lord has cursed.”
Man was in pain for there toil and they looked to Noah to bring comfort. God was in pain because of mans sin.
Now God “repented” (nāḥam, was grieved, NIV) that He had made man because human sin pained Him (6:6). This is why pain was brought into the world—God was grieved with sin.
When it says God was sorry it wasn’t that He changed His mind. Because He is changeless. Mal. 3:6. But that he was sorrowful.
Malachi 3:6 NKJV
“For I am the Lord, I do not change; Therefore you are not consumed, O sons of Jacob.
Pain was created because this is what God felt. So when we go through pain we are feeling a measure of what God feels.
Thats why it says we fellowship in His suffering. We are feeling what Christ feels at the cross.
Noah found grace.
Genesis 6:8 NKJV
But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.
Noah was a preacher of rightouesness 2 Peter 2:5
2 Peter 2:5 NKJV
and did not spare the ancient world, but saved Noah, one of eight people, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood on the world of the ungodly;
