I. Elder - “Presbyteros”

Acts 11:30 (NIV) - “This they did, sending their gift to the elders by Barnabas and Saul.”
Acts 14:23 (NIV) - “Paul and Barnabas appointed elders  for them in each church and, with prayer and fasting, committed them to the Lord, in whom they had put their trust.”
Acts 15:2–4 (NIV) “This brought Paul and Barnabas into sharp dispute and debate with them. So Paul and Barnabas were appointed, along with some other believers, to go up to Jerusalem to see the apostles and elders about this question. The church sent them on their way, and as they traveled through Phoenicia and Samaria, they told how the Gentiles had been converted. This news made all the believers very glad. When they came to Jerusalem, they were welcomed by the church and the apostles and elders, to whom they reported everything God had done through them.”
Acts 15:6 (NIV) “The apostles and elders met to consider this question.”
Acts 15:22 (NIV) - “Then the apostles and elders, with the whole church, decided to choose some of their own men and send them to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas. They chose Judas (called Barsabbas) and Silas, men who were leaders among the believers.”
Acts 15:23 (NIV) - “With them they sent the following letter: the apostles and elders, your brothers, To the Gentile believers in Antioch, Syria and Cilicia: Greetings.”
Acts 16:4–5 (NIV) - “As they traveled from town to town, they delivered the decisions reached by the apostles and elders in Jerusalem for the people to obey. So the churches were strengthened in the faith and grew daily in numbers.”
Acts 20:17 (NIV) - “From Miletus, Paul sent to Ephesus for the elders of the church.”
Acts 21:18 (NIV) - “The next day Paul and the rest of us went to see James, and all the elders were present.”
1 Timothy 5:17–21 (NIV) - “The elders who direct the affairs of the church well are worthy of double honor, especially those whose work is preaching and teaching. For Scripture says, “Do not muzzle an ox while it is treading out the grain,”  and “The worker deserves his wages.”  Do not entertain an accusation against an elder unless it is brought by two or three witnesses. But those elders who are sinning you are to reprove before everyone, so that the others may take warning. I charge you, in the sight of God and Christ Jesus and the elect angels, to keep these instructions without partiality, and to do nothing out of favoritism.”
Titus 1:5–6 (NIV) “The reason I left you in Crete was that you might put in order what was left unfinished and appoint elders in every town, as I directed you. An elder must be blameless, faithful to his wife, a man whose children believe and are not open to the charge of being wild and disobedient.”
James 5:14 (NIV) - “Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord.”
1 Peter 5:1 (NIV) - “To the elders among you, I appeal as a fellow elder and a witness of Christ’s sufferings who also will share in the glory to be revealed:”

II. Shepherd - “Poimaino”

Acts 20:28 (NIV) - “Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of God,  which he bought with his own blood.”
1 Peter 5:2–4 (NIV) “Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, watching over them—not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not pursuing dishonest gain, but eager to serve; not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock. And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that will never fade away.”
1 Peter 2:25 (NIV) - “For “you were like sheep going astray,”  but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.”

III. Overseer - “Episkopos”

Acts 20:28 (NIV) - “Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of God,  which he bought with his own blood. “
Philippians 1:1 (NIV) - “Paul and Timothy, servants of Christ Jesus, To all God’s holy people in Christ Jesus at Philippi, together with the overseers and deacons: “
1 Timothy 3:1–7 (NIV) - “Here is a trustworthy saying: Whoever aspires to be an overseer desires a noble task. Now the overseer is to be above reproach, faithful to his wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not given to drunkenness, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. He must manage his own family well and see that his children obey him, and he must do so in a manner worthy of full respect. (If anyone does not know how to manage his own family, how can he take care of God’s church?) He must not be a recent convert, or he may become conceited and fall under the same judgment as the devil. He must also have a good reputation with outsiders, so that he will not fall into disgrace and into the devil’s trap.”
Titus 1:7–9 (NIV) - “Since an overseer manages God’s household, he must be blameless—not overbearing, not quick-tempered, not given to drunkenness, not violent, not pursuing dishonest gain. Rather, he must be hospitable, one who loves what is good, who is self-controlled, upright, holy and disciplined. He must hold firmly to the trustworthy message as it has been taught, so that he can encourage others by sound doctrine and refute those who oppose it.”
1 Peter 2:25 (NIV) - “For “you were like sheep going astray,”  but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.”
