In this new year I’ve recently preached about God doing something New. Why do I believe this so strongly? Because its Biblical in 2 Corinthians 5:17 “ This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone and; a new lie has begun!” When we make Jesus our Lord and savior we are given a new life, which means we should walk different , talk different , and think different because we are being Transformed to to be more like Christ and to have the mind of Christ. Which leads me to the scripture were gonna take a look at today out of Revelation What you need to know about the book of Revelation?
The Author of Revelation is John an apostle and disciple of Jesus. Also sometimes referred to as John the Revelatory. Revelation is to be look at as a book of Prophecy and a divine prediction of future events but also a divine diagnosis of the present affairs. Revelation identifies itself as both “apocalypse or “revelation” and as prophecy “Apocalypse” is derived from the greek noun “apokalypsis”, meaning “revelation, disclosure , unveiling of unseen heavenly or future realities.
Now that we have an idea of what the book of Revelation is and who wrote it we can take a look at Revelation 3:14-20 Verse 15, Laodicea was a wealthy and rich city after it was hit by an earth quake they completely rebuilt the city of its own resources, but one issue they did have was a source of water. It was typically not hot or cold water but “Luke warm” The people of Laodicea would have known exactly what Gods was talking about because they had that issue. Verse 16, Back in these times Luke warm water was given by doctors to cause vomitting, and when you think of this comparison that this must have been so displeasing to the Lord that he compared it to vomiting them out. Its disgusting to him. Verse 17, Laodicea was a wealthy place and like I said they had built this city after the earth quake with all their own reasources and for that they truly felt like they needed no help from anyone. Verse 18-19, Agin there wealthy and their wools were famous and they boasted often about their Gold which is counterfeit to spiritual wealth and the Covering of the lamb of God can only cover a mans shame. God would have rathered the people of Laodicea be Hot or cold that way he could use them for something. But they had just enough Jesus to satisfy their religion but not enough to save their eternal soul. This is a call and a charge to get out of the middle in which is a confusing and deceiving place to be. Satan loves for us to be in a place of comfort and compromise where he can be at work because of our own selfish acts or self reliance. THERE IS NO MIDDLE!
