How the Passover as the context of the Crucifixion points to the work of God to Identify Israel (disciples and followers) as his own - Judgment/the Destroyer/death passes over the people because they are marked by the blood of Jesus. This is not a "sin" or "atonement" specific story Luke tells. It is one of a Father's covering and love (the prodigal in Luke 15)

Luke 22-23: THe Passover & Crucifixion - Belonging to the Lord

Passover was never about forgiveness.
N. T. Wright
Example of a stamp that marks you as part of the event or a sticker put on a child - God marked his people during Passover to shoe that they were his chosen people.
“I will not drink this cup again...” Marriage feast of the Lamb” Jesus prepares his disciples for the signifigance of what is to come
Revelation 19:9 “And the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.” And he said to me, “These are the true words of God.””
Isaiah 25:6 “On this mountain the Lord of hosts will make for all peoples a feast of rich food, a feast of well-aged wine, of rich food full of marrow, of aged wine well refined.”
Circumcision was not only a sign for Israelite men, but also for women, who needed to be certain they were marrying Israelites and not men who worshiped other gods. Every married Israelite man was thus a “bridegroom of blood”—a man who had undergone the blood ritual of circumcision.
Michael S. Heiser
A circumcised Moses would be unable to travel, so Zipporah performed the ritual on Gershom and, symbolically, on Moses. Her deed was unprecedented, but necessary. Zipporah acted in faith, and God relented. She saved Moses’ life and also atoned for his negligence. Moses was now a proper “bridegroom of blood.”
Michael S. Heiser
In ancient days, shepherds would mark their sheep to identify and protect them. The blood of the Passover lamb served a similar purpose – it marked God's people for protection from death. Today, we are marked not with blood, but through Christ’s sacrifice. This marking signifies that we are His, embraced into His family through grace. Each of us bears this mark of love and salvation, calling us into a deeper relationship with the One who protects and guides us.
If you have not yet made a decision to follow Jesus, or have wavered from a decision you have already made before, and want to decide to flollow him, to be marked by his Passover Blood. I invite you to raise your hand.
