INTRODUCTION:
In the gospel reading of today, from the book of John 2:1-8 we are told of an event which we can relate to. A wedding celebration or wedding reception, but things didn’t go as planned. Everyone who have lived for while now knows how quickly things can go out of hand especially when you’re planning an event. But the great news that came out of this was Jesus with few of his friends where invited and were in attendance. It’s such a blessing when someone can come to your aid in situations like this. Let’s read...
Illustration Story
A young person once volunteered to help with a community cleanup. Enthusiastic and ready, they came with a large coffee but forgot to bring gloves and a trash bag. They said, ‘I’m here to help!’ but ended up chatting while others did the hard work. Being a doer of the word isn’t just about showing up; it’s about actively engaging in the mission as well. Let’s not just be spectators, but participants in what God calls us to do!
On the third day a wedding took place in Cana of Galilee. Jesus’s mother was there, and Jesus and his disciples were invited to the wedding as well. When the wine ran out, Jesus’s mother told him, “They don’t have any wine.” “What has this concern of yours to do with me, woman?” Jesus asked. “My hour has not yet come.” “Do whatever he tells you,” his mother told the servants. Now six stone water jars had been set there for Jewish purification. Each contained twenty or thirty gallons. “Fill the jars with water,” Jesus told them. So they filled them to the brim. Then he said to them, “Now draw some out and take it to the headwaiter.” And they did.
LET US PRAY
LET US PRAY
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding; in all your ways know him, and he will make your paths straight.” - Prov.3:5-6
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding; in all your ways know him, and he will make your paths straight.” - Prov.3:5-6
What lessons can we draw from this story to help us turn our attention on Jesus and keep it on him as servants of the Lord. What can we take away to help us get better at listening regularly regardless of the situations we may face?
TO DO/GIVE ATTENTION
TO DO/GIVE ATTENTION
I heard it said: “What you give attention to, gives you direction”
To be a Christian or servant who does whatever Jesus tells him/her does not mean you understand and agree with what Jesus is telling you.
secondly it does not means it always make sense to you.
What does it mean?
What does it mean?
HEARING AND ACTING ON WHAT YOU HEARD HIM SAY TO YOU - James 1:22
Jesus said to the servants:
“Fill the jars with water” - taking time to go to the well and get the water to accomplish this task
“Draw or “Now dip some out, and take it to the master of ceremonies.”
To DO WHAT JESUS TELLS YOU means to trust and obey this is a distinctive mark between two Christians
In Matthew 7:21 Jesus says this: “Not everyone who calls out to me, ‘Lord! Lord!’ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Only those who actually do the will of my Father in heaven will enter.”
WRAP UP THOUGHT AND MOMENT OF PRAYER AND REFLECTION
The Father is will is that none should perish but to enter the kingdom of God through Jesus Christ
It’s the father’s will that you be the light of the world.
