Group Discussion

Question: How do our beliefs inform our actions?
Every man has something in him that wants to attempt great things, accomplish great things, and be a part of great things.
When men do not have a compelling mission, they respond in different ways:
Some settle for a life of mediocrity and the mundane, assuming they just need to bury their boyish dreams and ambitions.
Others become desperately bored and, in an attempt to find something more exciting in life, make foolish decisions.
Others will be driven by a constant sense of dissatisfaction, causing them to repeatedly leave what they have in a desperate search for something better—something more exciting.
Main Point: Men were created for a mission. To Build God’s Kingdom.
Men long for a fight. Men want to be a part of a battle. Men want to stand for justice and make wrong things right—to participate in something bigger than themselves. Men are naturally allergic to boredom. And this desire for a mission has led mankind to do some incredible things.
Question: Do you sense that you were created for a mission? What are some ways you feel that in your life? Most men suppress their desire for a compelling mission? Why do you think men do that? Where do you sense you have done that?
Question: How have you seen men destroy their lives because they were searching for something to fulfill the lack of mission?
Midlife Crisis: There is a stage in a man’s life when he wakes up and thinks, Is this it? Is this as good as it’s going to get? Wasn’t life supposed to be more exciting than this? Those questions lead men into feelings of boredom, emptiness, and rebellion. So, without any greater mission, they turn back into rebellious teenagers and make damaging decisions.
What Is The Mission?
God’s mission has always been that all people know Him and enjoy His presence for eternity. True life is always found in the presence of God. You exist for His presence and only discover life in His presence.
God’s design is not just to save you. God’s design is to send you. do something in you and then do something through you. God has always had a mission.
Mission: [Be A Faithful Witness]
Matthew 28:18–20 “Jesus came near and said to them, “All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.””
Acts 1:8 “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come on you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.””
John 20:21 “Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, I also send you.””
Psalm 96:1–7Sing a new song to the Lord; let the whole earth sing to the Lord. Sing to the Lord, bless his name; proclaim his salvation from day to day. Declare his glory among the nations, his wondrous works among all peoples. For the Lord is great and is highly praised; he is feared above all gods. For all the gods of the peoples are worthless idols, but the Lord made the heavens. Splendor and majesty are before him; strength and beauty are in his sanctuary. Ascribe to the Lord, you families of the peoples, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.”
Psalm 96:8–13 “Ascribe to the Lord the glory of his name; bring an offering and enter his courts. Worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness; let the whole earth tremble before him. Say among the nations, “The Lord reigns. The world is firmly established; it cannot be shaken. He judges the peoples fairly.” Let the heavens be glad and the earth rejoice; let the sea and all that fills it resound. Let the fields and everything in them celebrate. Then all the trees of the forest will shout for joy before the Lord, for he is coming— for he is coming to judge the earth. He will judge the world with righteousness and the peoples with his faithfulness.”
Who Is The Focus of The Mission?
Psalm 67 “For the choir director: with stringed instruments. A psalm. A song. May God be gracious to us and bless us; may he make his face shine upon us Selah so that your way may be known on earth, your salvation among all nations. Let the peoples praise you, God; let all the peoples praise you. Let the nations rejoice and shout for joy, for you judge the peoples with fairness and lead the nations on earth. Selah Let the peoples praise you, God, let all the peoples praise you. The earth has produced its harvest; God, our God, blesses us. God will bless us, and all the ends of the earth will fear him.”
Revelation 7:9 “After this I looked, and there was a vast multitude from every nation, tribe, people, and language, which no one could number, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were clothed in white robes with palm branches in their hands.”
How To Accomplish The Mission?
Question: why are so many men faithful at home and at church but not faithful witnesses for Jesus?
Declare The Gospel
Verbally sharing the gospel is a challenge for many of us. It might be the fear of man, a sense of inadequacy, insecurity, or spiritual warfare. But we must pray that God would deliver us from those things and make us bold enough to openly talk about Jesus.
Display The Gospel
Titus 3:1–2 “Remind them to submit to rulers and authorities, to obey, to be ready for every good work, to slander no one, to avoid fighting, and to be kind, always showing gentleness to all people.”
Our outward actions have a massive impact on the fulfillment of our mission. Our mission is not just to speak well; our mission is to live well.
God saved you to transform you. And He intended for that inner transformation to be manifested in your outward actions. He saved you so that every moment of your life would have significance, because every moment of your life is a part of His mission.
Fuel The Fire
Romans 10:1–4 “Brothers and sisters, my heart’s desire and prayer to God concerning them is for their salvation. I can testify about them that they have zeal for God, but not according to knowledge. Since they are ignorant of the righteousness of God and attempted to establish their own righteousness, they have not submitted to God’s righteousness. For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes,”
We must pray and ask God for a burden and a passion for His mission. God must give us a deep longing for people to come to Christ.
We must fuel the fire through daily pursuit of the presence of God. A man will never be passionate about spreading the presence of God unless he is passionate about experiencing the presence of God. Where there is no passion flowing in, there will never be passion flowing out.
Question: How can we keep a fire in our hearts for the lost? What are practical ways we can fuel the fire? Who are some specific lost people you need to spend more time with?
