Hebrews 11:7“By faith Noah, being warned by God about things not yet seen, in reverence prepared an ark for the salvation of his household, by which he condemned the world, and became an heir of the righteousness which is according to faith.”
Genesis 6:22 “Thus Noah did; according to all that God had commanded him, so he did.”
Noah is an heir of righteousness by faith alone, in God alone. No different than any other justified person. Other than that he had not seen God’s faithful acts as we do.
And we see Noahs righteousness as the means of 7 others being saved. An interesting consideration. Nonetheless, the vast majority do not believe. They scoffed at the warning, like many do today. And will continue to do. They treated Noah as such, the prophets, Christ, the apostles, and we shouldn’t expect anything less.
2 Peter 3:3–8 “Know this first of all, that in the last days mockers will come with their mocking, following after their own lusts, and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all continues just as it was from the beginning of creation.” For when they maintain this, it escapes their notice that by the word of God the heavens existed long ago and the earth was formed out of water and by water, through which the world at that time was destroyed, being flooded with water. But by His word the present heavens and earth are being reserved for fire, kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.”
Just as destruction was brought buy a flood, so it will be in a greater way by fire. We ought to call people to flee into the ark for safety, that is to Christ, who is our ark of salvation. The ark that God bids us to, and the ark that he hides us in closes us in. And will bring us safely to the new heavens and new earth.
