Romans 1:1 “1 Paul, a bondservant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated to the gospel of God”
Bondservant (1401) (doulos [word study] from root deo = "to bind") in its primary meaning describes one who is bound to another. Paul was "a servant (bound to) of Jesus Christ"; no longer a servant (bound to) of sin, nor of Satan, nor of man, nor of Moses and his Law, nor of the traditions of men.
Romans 1:2 “2 which He promised before through His prophets in the Holy Scriptures,”
Romans 1:3 “3 concerning His Son Jesus Christ our Lord, who was born of the seed of David according to the flesh,”
Romans 1:4 “4 and declared to be the Son of God with power according to the Spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead.”
Romans 1:5–6 “5 Through Him we have received grace and apostleship for obedience to the faith among all nations for His name, 6 among whom you also are the called of Jesus Christ;”
Romans 1:7 “7 To all who are in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.”
Truth Bomb:
Believers have a responsibility to pursue others for Christ.
New American Standard Bible: 1995 Update Chapter 1
So, for my part, I am eager to preach the gospel to you also who are in Rome.
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.
New American Standard Bible: 1995 Update Chapter 1
For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “bBUT THE RIGHTEOUS man SHALL LIVE BY FAITH.”
40 hágios – properly, different (unlike), other ("otherness"), holy; for the believer, 40 (hágios) means "likeness of nature with the Lord" because "different from the world."
The Greek word "hagios" translated here saints is used in the New Testament to refer to anyone who has received the resurrection power of the Holy Spirit through the blood of Jesus. "Hagios" is most often translated holy, a word which carries the notion of being set apart for a special purpose.
