We are studying the synopsis of the four Gospels
Last week we did an overview of the major items found in the synoptic Gospels versus the John’s Gospel
This week we are going to jump right into looking at Scripture.
1. Prologue
Matthew 1:1 “1 This is a record of the ancestors of Jesus the Messiah, a descendant of David and of Abraham:”
Mark 1:1 “1 This is the Good News about Jesus the Messiah, the Son of God. It began”
Luke 1:1–4 “1 Many people have set out to write accounts about the events that have been fulfilled among us. 2 They used the eyewitness reports circulating among us from the early disciples. 3 Having carefully investigated everything from the beginning, I also have decided to write an accurate account for you, most honorable Theophilus, 4 so you can be certain of the truth of everything you were taught.”
John 1:1–18 (NLT)
John so eloquently gives a summery of the gospel message.
Jesus is God, John the Baptist was his witness, Jesus offers the ability to be a child of God!
"The Gospel of John is shallow enough for a child not to drown and deep enough for an elephant to swim."
-Augustine (4th cent. CE)

What are some noticeable differences between the two Genealogy accounts?

Why the two Genealogies?
Option 1: One is Joseph’s and one is Mary’s
Option 2: One is Royal (or Legal) the other is physical
