this in a nut shell is the rapture

the people of Thessalonica thought the rapture had already taken place

they had missed it and they were in the tribulation

one week represents a week of years

the antichrist will make a covenant with the Israelites of peace for 7 years

in the middle of the week it will stop

where he will go into the holy of holies and declare himself god

Paul had to send another to the thess. because they were still unsure about what they were going through

they had tribulations of their own

When we read the Revelations chapter 5 — we see some of what is going to happen during the tribulation

and after the tribulation we have the

Day of the Lord

the people of Thess. were scared of the Day of the Lord

so Paul tells them in

2 thess 2: 1-3.

V 3 the antichrist has to come first

now we have the restrainer

the one who is restraining the antichrist from exposing himself

the one who is restraining pure evil in this world

The Holy Spirit

Before Jesus returns to judge and rule the antichrist has to have a shot time of rule

He will put down all of His enemies

Jesus must first be crucified for the sins of His people
