Introduction
1 Peter 3:4 “But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.”
How wonderful the Divine Mind of God open to our prayer. Think about this, the Hidden Man of the Heart is your specific personal place where you and the Lord are alone with each other. It is the place where the infinite meets the finite. It is the place where this present evil world, has no voice! Tonight I would like to describe this Hidden Man.
The Hidden Man is:
Where the Holy Spirit Resides - 1 Corinthians 6:19–20 “What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.”
Where the Works of Darkness are Reproved - Ephesians 5:11 “And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.” Psalm 149:6–9 “Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a twoedged sword in their hand; To execute vengeance upon the heathen, and punishments upon the people; To bind their kings with chains, and their nobles with fetters of iron; To execute upon them the judgment written: this honour have all his saints. Praise ye the LORD.”
Where Broken Fellowship is Restored - 1 John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
Where Pride is Renounced - 1 Peter 5:6 “Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:”
Where Spiritual Strength is Reclaimed - Isaiah 41:10 “Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.”
Where the Inner Man is Renewed - 2 Corinthians 4:16 “For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.”
Where God’s Presence is Recognized - Psalm 16:11 “Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.”
Where Oneness with God is Realized - Exodus 25:22 “And there I will meet with thee, and I will commune with thee from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubims which are upon the ark of the testimony, of all things which I will give thee in commandment unto the children of Israel.”
Where God’s Glory is Revealed - John 17:24 “Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.”
Where God’s Thoughts are Received - Psalm 139:17 “How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!”
Where Spiritual Wisdom is Replenished - James 1:5 “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.”
Where Intimacy with God is Revered - Psalm 42:1–2 “As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God. My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?”
Where God’s Will is Recalled - Ephesians 5:17 “Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.” John 17:7 “Now they have known that all things whatsoever thou hast given me are of thee.”
Conclusion
Conclusion
Great things happen in the place of “Great Price.” If you are lost in a spiritual maze of confusion not knowing what to do, enter your closet, shut the door and meditate on your situation, your needs and desires, and focus on the Lord Jesus Christ knowing and trusting that He can and will help you.
Matthew 11:28–30 “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
Wait on His manifest presence, not trusting your feelings, but resting on truth as the Psalmist has shared:
Psalm 37:23 “The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way.”
Proverbs 3:4–6 “So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man. Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”
In the Hidden Place where we meet with God, lives are transformed, delivered from the evil snares of Satan. It is there, cowards become courageous; the doubtful become victorious by faith; the weak are made strong in faith “giving glory to God.” Don’t take “the Hidden Man of the Heart lightly.”
