Welcome to Day 26 of 30, incorporating the names and attributes of our God into our understanding and our following God. Today, we are looking at Jesus Christ as our Lord and Master.

26. Lord, Master

All God’s people ought to acknowledge themselves as His servants, with God’s right to reign as Lord of their lives.

Scripture:

2 Samuel 7:18-20 - Then King David went in and sat before the LORD; and he said: “Who am I, O Lord GOD? And what is my house, that You have brought me this far? And yet this was a small thing in Your sight, O Lord GOD; and You have also spoken of Your servant’s house for a great while to come. Is this the manner of man, O Lord GOD? Now what more can David say to You? For You, Lord GOD, know Your servant.

Psalm 16:2 - O my soul, you have said to the Lord , “You are my Lord, My goodness is nothing apart from You.”

John 13:12-17 - So when He had washed their feet, taken His garments, and sat down again, He said to them, “Do you know what I have done to you? You call Me Teacher and Lord, and you say well, for so I am. If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you. Most assuredly, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master; nor is he who is sent greater than he who sent him. If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them.

Prayer: Lord, Master, thank You that You are not like the masters of this world who lord their power over their subordinates. You show me, Jesus, what it looks like to be a gentle and meek leader as You washed Your disciples’ feet.
