This Week’s Theme: The Inspiration for Worship
Word for the Week is Truth: It is a moral concept grounded in God Himself, which embodies the ideas of faithfulness and reliability. In the New Testament, the concept widens to embrace the teachings about God, Christ, the Holy Spirit, and man’s duties to Him.
Memory verse: John 4:24 (NKJV) “God [is] Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”
Sermon Focus: God’s goodness and love motivate saints to worship Him.
Sermon Passage: Psalm 25:4-15
Psalm 25:4–15 NKJV
4 Show me Your ways, O Lord; Teach me Your paths. 5 Lead me in Your truth and teach me, For You are the God of my salvation; On You I wait all the day. 6 Remember, O Lord, Your tender mercies and Your lovingkindnesses, For they are from of old. 7 Do not remember the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions; According to Your mercy remember me, For Your goodness’ sake, O Lord. 8 Good and upright is the Lord; Therefore He teaches sinners in the way. 9 The humble He guides in justice, And the humble He teaches His way. 10 All the paths of the Lord are mercy and truth, To such as keep His covenant and His testimonies. 11 For Your name’s sake, O Lord, Pardon my iniquity, for it is great. 12 Who is the man that fears the Lord? Him shall He teach in the way He chooses. 13 He himself shall dwell in prosperity, And his descendants shall inherit the earth. 14 The secret of the Lord is with those who fear Him, And He will show them His covenant. 15 My eyes are ever toward the Lord, For He shall pluck my feet out of the net.
INTRODUCTION: The phrase "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery" is often attributed to the English writer Charles Caleb Colton, who included it in his book *Lacon: or, Many Things in Few Words*, published in 1820.

I. SHOW ME

DAVID EXPRESSED HIS DEPENDENCE ON THE LORD
RECOGNIZING HIS NEED
UNDERSTANDING THAT
Proverbs 14:12 “12 There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death.”
DAVID WROTE THESE WORDS
Psalm 25:4 NKJV
4 Show me Your ways, O Lord; Teach me Your paths.
Show me Your ways, O LORD;
THIS REQUEST IS NOT NEW. MOSES SAID IT TO THE LORD WHEN HE TOLD THE LORD THE FOLLOWING IN VERSES 12 AND 13 OF CHAPTER 33 OF EXODUS
Exodus 33:12–13 NKJV
12 Then Moses said to the Lord, “See, You say to me, ‘Bring up this people.’ But You have not let me know whom You will send with me. Yet You have said, ‘I know you by name, and you have also found grace in My sight.’ 13 Now therefore, I pray, if I have found grace in Your sight, show me now Your way, that I may know You and that I may find grace in Your sight. And consider that this nation is Your people.”
Exodus 33:18–19 (NKJV)
18 And he said, “Please, show me Your glory.”
19 Then He said, “I will make all My goodness pass before you, and I will proclaim the name of the Lord before you. I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.”
Exodus 34:6–7 (NKJV)
6 And the Lord passed before him and proclaimed, “The Lord, the Lord God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and truth,
7 keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children and the children’s children to the third and the fourth generation.”
DAVID IS ECHOING THE PASSION AND WORDS OF MOSES
Psalm 25:8 Good and upright [is] the LORD; Therefore He teaches sinners in the way.
Isaiah 2:3 NKJV
3 Many people shall come and say, “Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, To the house of the God of Jacob; He will teach us His ways, And we shall walk in His paths.” For out of Zion shall go forth the law, And the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.
LOOK AT Jeremiah 6:16
Jeremiah 6:16 NKJV
16 Thus says the Lord: “Stand in the ways and see, And ask for the old paths, where the good way is, And walk in it; Then you will find rest for your souls. But they said, ‘We will not walk in it.’
THE LORD CALLED FOR THE PEOPLE WHO HAD GONE IN THE WRONG WAY TO ASK FOR THE OLD PATHS FOR THE GOOD WAYS
TO ASK FOR TRUTH, JUSTICE, AND MERCY
BUT THEY WOULD NOT
Psalm 25:9 NKJV
9 The humble He guides in justice, And the humble He teaches His way.
The humble He guides in justice, And the humble He teaches His way.  D
ISAIAH DID IT IN CHAPTER 6 OF HIS BOOK
11 For Your name’s sake, O LORD, Pardon my iniquity, for it [is] great.

II. SCHOOL ME

LOOK AT PS 25:4
Psalm 25:4 NKJV
4 Show me Your ways, O Lord; Teach me Your paths.
HE ASKED THE LORD TO Teach HIM HIS PATHS.
IT WAS NOT ENOUGH TO SEE THE WAYS OF GOD BUT DAVID WANTED TO BE TAUGHT GOD’S PATH
LOOK AT VERSE 10. DAVID SAID ALL
Psalm 25:10 NKJV
10 All the paths of the Lord are mercy and truth, To such as keep His covenant and His testimonies.
HE WANTED TO LIVE IN MERCY AND TRUTH
HIS MERCY IS
Eternal
Psalm 103:17 “17 But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting On those who fear Him, And His righteousness to children’s children,”
Boundless
Psalm 108:4 “4 For Your mercy is great above the heavens, And Your truth reaches to the clouds.”
Prolongs Life
Lamentations 3:22–23 “22 Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not. 23 They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.”
Encourages to Penitence
Joel 2:13 “13 So rend your heart, and not your garments; Return to the Lord your God, For He is gracious and merciful, Slow to anger, and of great kindness; And He relents from doing harm.”
Forgives Sin
Micah 7:18 “18 Who is a God like You, Pardoning iniquity And passing over the transgression of the remnant of His heritage? He does not retain His anger forever, Because He delights in mercy.”
THE TRUTH OR RATHER THE WORD OF GOD
THE WORD IS CERTAIN –
Psalm 19:7–8 “7 The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul; The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple; 8 The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes;”
THE WORD IS COMPETENT –
Isaiah 55:11 “11 So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.”
THE WORD IS CORRECTING –
Psalm 119:105 “105 Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.”
THE WORD IS CUTTING –
Hebrews 4:12 “12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
ACCORDING TO John 4:24 “24 God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.””
THIS IS WHY DAVID SAID IN VERSE 5
Psalm 25:5 NKJV
5 Lead me in Your truth and teach me, For You are the God of my salvation; On You I wait all the day.
HE KNEW HE NEEDED HELP.
HE NEED THE LORD ACCORDING TO Psalm 143:8 TO CAUSE HIM
Psalm 143:8 NKJV
8 Cause me to hear Your lovingkindness in the morning, For in You do I trust; Cause me to know the way in which I should walk, For I lift up my soul to You.
WHY LOOK AT VERSES 6 AND 7
Psalm 25:6–8 NKJV
6 Remember, O Lord, Your tender mercies and Your lovingkindnesses, For they are from of old. 7 Do not remember the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions; According to Your mercy remember me, For Your goodness’ sake, O Lord. 8 Good and upright is the Lord; Therefore He teaches sinners in the way.
LOOK AT VERSE 11
Psalm 25:11 NKJV
11 For Your name’s sake, O Lord, Pardon my iniquity, for it is great.
TEACH ME! WHY? LOOK WHAT HAPPENS WITH THOSE FEAR THE LORD
Psalm 25:12 NKJV
12 Who is the man that fears the Lord? Him shall He teach in the way He chooses.
Psalm 25:14 NKJV
14 The secret of the Lord is with those who fear Him, And He will show them His covenant.
15 My eyes [are] ever toward the LORD, For He shall pluck my feet out of the net.
BUT GOD’S PEOPLE ACCORDING TO ISAIAH WILL COME AND SAY
Isaiah 2:3 NKJV
3 Many people shall come and say, “Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, To the house of the God of Jacob; He will teach us His ways, And we shall walk in His paths.” For out of Zion shall go forth the law, And the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.
