This morning we begin well at the beginning
As we go through the Bible we will essentially skim the surface of the Biblical Stories
And no better to start then at the Beginning
We have all heard this probably and for sure have read it but the story of creation
To understand church that we were created
That we didn’t just happen to appear
That we weren’t left to chance and this is what showed up
You have heard the analogy of the watch in a bag
If you put all the pieces of a watch in a bag and shake it up
When you open the bag up and take the contents out
Do you get a watch or a bunch of watch pieces not put together
That is was some of the world will tell you
That creation was left to random chance
The world will tell you that the Big Bang and then what was created was created
Or that it transformed over millions of years with no written account for any of that
But to know that an intelligent designer perfectly and precisely created everything
That is the creation account from Scripture
That is 7 days God perfectly and precisely created everything
We have the first 2 chapters of Genesis that gives us a record of creation
Chapter 1 is more detailed day by day and then Chapter 2 is more giving us some of the details that were left our of chapter 1
We call them 7 days of creation because the 7th day is I believe just as important as the other days
We know probably the 6 days of creation because we have heard it or read it so often
But on Day 1
3 Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. 4 God saw that the light was good; and God separated the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light day, and the darkness He called night. And there was evening and there was morning, one day.
On day 1 we see that God spoke light into existence
That before there was light before there was a day
We can read what was going before God began to speak things into existence
2 The earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the waters.
That God was there before there was a there to call it there
God the triune God was there
And then God began to speak things into existence
It should be noted that as we go through these 7 days of creation
We come at it from the understanding they are 7 actual days
There are people who would you believe that during those 7 days of creation they actually took millions of years
Or each day was a period of time or an age of time throughout history
As I understand scripture the Hebrew word in Genesis 1:5. is Yom which is a 24 hours period
So as I understand scripture these 7 days of creation are a literal 7 days of creation
Day 2
6 Then God said, “Let there be an expanse in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters.” 7 God made the expanse, and separated the waters which were below the expanse from the waters which were above the expanse; and it was so. 8 God called the expanse heaven. And there was evening and there was morning, a second day.
Are you starting to see and understand the majesty and power of the living God
He spoke light and now he has separated the water above and the water below
made the sky and and heaven and then gathered the water below
For us to think we can simple understand it and make the 7 days of creation into millions of years is wrong
It takes faith for us to understand and believe that the God of the universe simply spoke them into existence and church that is exactly what is require to grow in Christ

Then to Day 3
Day 3
9 Then God said, “Let the waters below the heavens be gathered into one place, and let the dry land appear”; and it was so. 10 God called the dry land earth, and the gathering of the waters He called seas; and God saw that it was good. 11 Then God said, “Let the earth sprout vegetation, plants yielding seed, and fruit trees on the earth bearing fruit after their kind with seed in them”; and it was so. 12 The earth brought forth vegetation, plants yielding seed after their kind, and trees bearing fruit with seed in them, after their kind; and God saw that it was good. 13 There was evening and there was morning, a third day.
Now God has started to craft the earth and made land and gathered the waters and made seas and oceans
Now to cover the land that He just made he is going to bring forth vegetation and plants with seeds to continue to reproduce
This is the first time God says it was good
God had looked at His own work and said man that looks amazing and it is good
Not in a prideful way because God cannot sin but in a the Earth is so beautiful way
Because church if you look at the earth from space it is amazingly beautiful
And we know that to be true because God mad it and God does not make trash
Then we move onto
Day 4
14 Then God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night, and let them be for signs and for seasons and for days and years; 15 and let them be for lights in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth”; and it was so. 16 God made the two great lights, the greater light to govern the day, and the lesser light to govern the night; He made the stars also. 17 God placed them in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth, 18 and to govern the day and the night, and to separate the light from the darkness; and God saw that it was good. 19 There was evening and there was morning, a fourth day.
Then God begins to set things in motion for the different seasons
He names the Sun and the moon
Sort of has things created and then sets them in physical motion
God created the stars and set them in the heavens
Once again God sets back and says it is good
Because the seasons are good
The stars the sun and the moon are good
Day 5
20 Then God said, “Let the waters teem with swarms of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth in the open expanse of the heavens.” 21 God created the great sea monsters and every living creature that moves, with which the waters swarmed after their kind, and every winged bird after its kind; and God saw that it was good. 22 God blessed them, saying, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth.” 23 There was evening and there was morning, a fifth day.
Then God makes the fish and the birds
God creates the fish and things that live in the oceans
I have seen Whales in person and church let me tell you God is an awesome amazing creator
Those are massive and amazing animals
God has also created the birds of the sky
God gives them commands to multiple
Once again it is good
Then to probably are favorite day
Day 6
24 Then God said, “Let the earth bring forth living creatures after their kind: cattle and creeping things and beasts of the earth after their kind”; and it was so. 25 God made the beasts of the earth after their kind, and the cattle after their kind, and everything that creeps on the ground after its kind; and God saw that it was good. 26 Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” 27 God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. 28 God blessed them; and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it; and rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” 29 Then God said, “Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the surface of all the earth, and every tree which has fruit yielding seed; it shall be food for you; 30 and to every beast of the earth and to every bird of the sky and to every thing that moves on the earth which has life, I have given every green plant for food”; and it was so. 31 God saw all that He had made, and behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.
Then we get to day 6
God makes the land animals
All the creepy crawling animals
Church my family are zoo people
We love going to the zoo and to see the different animals
We have gone and seen some of the coolest animals and awesome places
We have had the opportunity to feed giraffes, and stingrays
Once of the coolest animal things I have been able to do was a feed a rino
All the while I am reminded of the awesome amazing God of creation because He made it all
And of course we cannot forget Gods greatest creation
mankind
God created Adam in His own image
The triune God said lets make man in our image
When you look in the mirror you are seeing the image of God
It is also on day 6 we see God not just say it is good but it is very good
The pinnical of Gods creation is man kind
We are the apple of Gods eye the one with whom he will seek out a personal relationship with
To have fellowship with
To have walks in the garden with
If you think we are done then you have missed what God did in those 7 days
God has one more day left
Day 7
1 Thus the heavens and the earth were completed, and all their hosts. 2 By the seventh day God completed His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. 3 Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made.
See after God had created everything
God rested
It wasn’t because God the all powerful was exhausted
It wasn’t that he needed a rest
He rested to show us that we need to rest
I am sure after this I will get Jeremy did you hear yourself say that
We as Christians, as followers of Christ
As imitators of Christ need to do what God did and on the 7th day God rested
Church we need to rest
This is so important that it is given in the 10 commandments
And it is so important that we as believers and even ministers don’t believe that we need to adhere to that
So God rested to show us that yes we need to rest to trust in and focus on God
Which is why we take a sabbath day
Which is why Sunday is called a day of rest
So we have gone through the 7 days of creation
And church we could go through Chapter 2 in more in depth about how Adam named everything and how Eve came from Man
We could spend time talking about marriage and how scripture says that marriage is between a man and a women and yes there is a difference between and man and women, a man cannot be a women and a women cannot be a man
and yet we intentionally skipped over a very important verse
Did any one catch it
If you answered
Genesis 1:1, you are correct
1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
During my study for this I found in one commentary that dealt with Genesis 1:1.
It uses the Hebrew words but in those first 7 Hebrew words we find seven key truths
But I thought these 7 truths are so amazing and wanted to share them with you
God Exists
In the beginning God, means God does in fact exist
Yes there is a God and He is interacting with you and with us, God did not create the world and then start spinning only to sit back in His lazy boy in heaven and watch it like a soap opra each week
God is involved in the details of our life we need to know and understand and acknowledge that yes God does exist
God existed before there was a universe
In the beginning, meaning before time started
We have said this before but God the triune God, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, 1 God were there before they named that place there
Before time started before the world was set in physical motion God was there
God is the main Character of the Bible
God
God is the main character of the entire Bible
The Bible is like this
God created everything
Man sinned
God is so gracious and loving that God kicked man out of the garden
We think God doesn’t know what He is doing when in all actuality God has set in motion His plan for salvation of the World to those who believe
God sets things in motion to get back together with His people

Jesus comes dies, rises
The World is forever changed
The Church is set in motion
Welcome 2025
And through the entire story it is all about God
God is the Creator and has done something no human could ever do in creating things out of nothing
God created
This is something no human has or will ever be able to do to create something out of nothing
We like to say that an invention is taking things that are already there and making something new and that creation is to take nothing and making something
God is mysterious, 1 God 3 persons, the Triune God
God, the Triune God
Awe the Triune God is something you can most defiantly get caught in the weeds
There is not much in scripture about how the Trinity Works other than it exists and it works
1 God 3 Persons
If we could understand it then it wouldn’t be God
God created Heaven and Earth
Again God Created
God did not modify or take things already there and change or add to them but took nothing and made something new
God is not dependent on the universe but the universe is dependent on Him
To know that God does not need the universe he created out of nothing
But the fact that we need Him
So this morning I would end with this
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. 4 In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men. 5 The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.
We were created to be in fellowship with God but sin stopped that
God is light and the world is not
But because of Christ you can have the light and know the light personally if you will repent of your sin and trust in Jesus
CLOSING
This morning as we call our band up for the invitation
It is just that
It is an invitation to do business with God this morning
Maybe this morning He is calling you to repent of your sin this morning and trust Him for the first time
Maybe you have walked away from a relationship you have had
Maybe you just need to spend time in prayer
But would do business with God this morning
