Grow in Maturity
Grow in Maturity
The Holy Spirit has been given to us to help us grow in the Lord Jesus Christ.
13 “But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come. 14 “He will glorify Me, for He will take of Mine and will disclose it to you.
Because we have the Holy Spirit, we have the mind of Christ. He teaches us the will of God.
However, the Corinthians were living in carnality and not maturity, they were pridefully seeking their own glory and creating divisions.
It is God’s will that we grow to maturity in Christ.
5 Now for this very reason also, applying all diligence, in your faith supply moral excellence, and in your moral excellence, knowledge, 6 and in your knowledge, self-control, and in your self-control, perseverance, and in your perseverance, godliness, 7 and in your godliness, brotherly kindness, and in your brotherly kindness, love. 8 For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they render you neither useless nor unfruitful in the true knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 For he who lacks these qualities is blind or short-sighted, having forgotten his purification from his former sins
Build for Eternity
Build for Eternity
In 2019 fire broke out in the roof of the landmark Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, soon wood that was hundreds of years old was gone in flame. Just this past month, fires swept through the Pacific Palisades homes in California. Multi-million dollar homes were destroyed in the matter of hours. What lasted?
There is only one foundation to build a church on, that of the Lord Jesus Christ!
Anyone who seeks their own glory in the church is simply building with wood, hay and stubble.
“Only one life, twill soon be past, only what’s done for Christ will last.”
What are you building your life upon?
Build on the foundation of the Lord Jesus Christ.
You are the temple of God, the dwelling
Paul’s point was that he was a servant of God along with Apollos, what is important is not the servant, but the Master.
What lasts is not man’s achievements, but Christ’s glory!
24 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them, may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 “And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and yet it did not fall, for it had been founded on the rock. 26 “Everyone who hears these words of Mine and does not act on them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. 27 “The rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and it fell—and great was its fall.”
