Matthew 16:24 (ASV)
Matthew 16:24 (ASV)
24Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man would come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
24Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man would come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
Tonight, we are going to look at what the “following Christ” truly means
We are going to look at just one verse in Matthew, and we are going to truly break down what Jesus is saying
I feel hat God laid this verse on my heart, because today in America, we kind of have a skewed vision on what true Christ following looks like
Man if you just get on Facebook or Ticktock, there are so many “Gospels” preached that really aren't the True gospel.
And to be honest, its not really just the younger generations doing this.
In a recent interview, Richard Dawkins (Well known atheist in England) Said that he is a “Cultrual Christian”
And to be honest, in America today, we have a whole lot of “cultural Christians” that want all the moral values without the hard truths of what it means to follow Christ
So tonight, we are just going to break down three main points i believe Jesus is truly trying to point out

Following Christ is not about you
Following Christ is not about you
Look back at the verse again, Jesus tells us that we must Deny ourselves
The Greek word used for “deny” is aparnéomai, which literally means to disown and is the same word used in the passage where Peter denies Jesus 3 times.
