1 Peter 2:9 “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:”
God’s people are called to holiness, which involves being distinct from other people.
In the OT, this is seen in the command to separate from other nations and from everything that can compromise commitment to the LORD.
In the NT believers are called to distance themselves from the ways and values of the world, which can be dishonouring to God and destructive to obedience to him.
God does not want us to be a resemblance to the world at all period. no matter the trend.
what you think is cute or looks good on you no matter what you wanna change on your body. He Called us to be Holy for he is Holy.
i will emphasis This means on the inside and on the outside. what is in your heart and what shows from the outside.
If you Are Holy on the outside but not Holy on the Outside this is not correct. You are not living the way God has called you to live.
Inside Holiness Is a crucial step in following after God and being a vessel for God.
why?
well because if you’re heart isn’t right then you are in a danger zone spiritually. Its like having a nice car or house on the outside but on the inside theres trash and filth everywhere. it could potentually devalue the property.
We can’t live a lukewarm christian life. we are either in or we are out. theres no in between and you cant just barely make it by. living your life on the line of Worldly and Holy.
2 Corinthians 7:1 “Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.”
We are to repent daily. It cleans us and keeps us to the source Of Purification and Holiness. don’t stay in your fleshly manner. Don’t stay in your sin. Don’t stay in what you can get delivered from.
Isaiah 35:8 “And an highway shall be there, and a way, And it shall be called The way of holiness; The unclean shall not pass over it; but it shall be for those: The wayfaring men, though fools, shall not err therein.”
Outside Holiness what the people see
Deuteronomy 22:5 “The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman’s garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the Lord thy God.”
1 Corinthians 11:6–7 “For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered. For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man.” “For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered.”
Leviticus 19:28 “Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the Lord.”
Old Testament context:
This verse is from the Old Testament and is often interpreted as reflecting practices associated with pagan rituals at the time.
These are just some of the things that God does not want us to do towards our outside apperance.
i truly believe that your outside appearance may just be as important as your inside why? well what is the first thing people may see? what you have are wearing/ how you carry yourself.
me Personally i believe that the best thing for you to do is to look nice everywhere you go. you wanna look clean. you want to look like you just got out of a job interview with God every where you go.
Now there can be a lot of things that end up turning into personal convictions. Somethings that just bother you in your personal life that makes you feel like your living on the edge. That is totally fine, it could also be a sacrifice for you.
We are called to be so much diffrent from this world. i would rather be diffrent and stick out like a sore thumb then be like other white dude and dressed like i following the current fashion trend.
Then we have church standards. i wont get into that because that is not my place but i will say, Pastor is our shepard he is our leader. he is the person who helps us stay on the right path to get to heaven.
Pastor has some platform guidelines as well as everyday outside of church guidelines that he would like for us to follow. Out of respect for our man of God we must take into consideration of those guidelines and act upon him. not for only for your own sake but as well as being a light to the world. A vessel that is chosen and used by God.
No a lot of the outside appearance is not a heaven or hell issue but it is a where is your heart at issue. Are you willing to Sacrifice some things are you wanting to be that royal priesthood and chosen generation.
we arent not to be of this world but to be the light of the world. too make a pure and Holy change to this world. Don’t get so caught up in the world and what your co-worker or your friend or even significant other is doing that you start to forget that you are to be a chosen vessel of God. i don’t believe that comes lightly so it shouldn’t be taken lightly
Be Diffrent, stand out to be afraid to walk in authority and walk into this world with dominion.
