Scripture Text: Genesis 1:26-31
Genesis 1:26–31 NLT
26 Then God said, “Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us. They will reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the livestock, all the wild animals on the earth, and the small animals that scurry along the ground.” 27 So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. 28 Then God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and multiply. Fill the earth and govern it. Reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, and all the animals that scurry along the ground.” 29 Then God said, “Look! I have given you every seed-bearing plant throughout the earth and all the fruit trees for your food. 30 And I have given every green plant as food for all the wild animals, the birds in the sky, and the small animals that scurry along the ground—everything that has life.” And that is what happened. 31 Then God looked over all he had made, and he saw that it was very good! And evening passed and morning came, marking the sixth day.

UW: reasons
INTRODUCTION:
The world wants you to believe that mankind is a huge cosmic mistake. (Evolution)
You and I are just a series of mutations.
Mutations that are mathematically and biologically impossible.
the chance of one protein forming that is necessary for life is 1 in 10/ 164th power.
Human DNA is made up of over 30,000 proteins.
The genetics of the mutations required for one species would require all mutations to happen at the same time.
At least two individuals would have to form in the same area at the same time (one male and one female)
TS: According to the Word of God, mankind was not just a mistake. Here are the biblical answers to our question:

I- GOD PERSONALLY CREATED MANKIND. (Genesis 1:26-27)

Genesis 1:26–27 NLT
26 Then God said, “Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us. They will reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the livestock, all the wild animals on the earth, and the small animals that scurry along the ground.” 27 So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.

A- Man was made by the determined counsel of God. (Genesis 1:26)

Genesis 1:26 NLT
26 Then God said, “Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us. They will reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the livestock, all the wild animals on the earth, and the small animals that scurry along the ground.”
Genesis 2:7 NLT
7 Then the Lord God formed the man from the dust of the ground. He breathed the breath of life into the man’s nostrils, and the man became a living person.
1- God decided ahead of time to make mankind. (Genesis 1:26 )
Genesis 1:26 NLT
26 Then God said, “Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us. They will reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the livestock, all the wild animals on the earth, and the small animals that scurry along the ground.”
a. Mankind was not an after-thought of God as he created everything else.
2- God made man as he is. (Genesis 2:7)
Genesis 2:7 NLT
7 Then the Lord God formed the man from the dust of the ground. He breathed the breath of life into the man’s nostrils, and the man became a living person.
a. He did not develop from a series of genetic accidents.

B- God made man in the image of himself. (Genesis 1:27)

1- God made man as a triune being. (1 Thessalonians 5:23)
1 Thessalonians 5:23 NLT
23 Now may the God of peace make you holy in every way, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless until our Lord Jesus Christ comes again.
2- God made man as an eternal being. (Luke 16:23)
Luke 16:23 NLT
23 and he went to the place of the dead. There, in torment, he saw Abraham in the far distance with Lazarus at his side.
3- God made mankind with the ability to reason and choose. (Joshua 24:15)
Joshua 24:15 NLT
15 But if you refuse to serve the Lord, then choose today whom you will serve. Would you prefer the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates? Or will it be the gods of the Amorites in whose land you now live? But as for me and my family, we will serve the Lord.”
a. Adam & eve were given one choice - made the wrong one.
b. You and I are free to choose who will be our master - Christ or Satan.

B- Live fruitful lives.(Genesis 2:7-9)

7 Then the Lord God formed the man from the dust of the ground. He breathed the breath of life into the man’s nostrils, and the man became a living person. 8 Then the Lord God planted a garden in Eden in the east, and there he placed the man he had made. 9 The Lord God made all sorts of trees grow up from the ground—trees that were beautiful and that produced delicious fruit. In the middle of the garden he placed the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

III- GOD HAS PROVIDED A REMEDY FOR MANKIND’S REBELLION. (Genesis 3:1-6, 14-15)

Genesis 3:1–6 NLT
1 The serpent was the shrewdest of all the wild animals the Lord God had made. One day he asked the woman, “Did God really say you must not eat the fruit from any of the trees in the garden?” 2 “Of course we may eat fruit from the trees in the garden,” the woman replied. 3 “It’s only the fruit from the tree in the middle of the garden that we are not allowed to eat. God said, ‘You must not eat it or even touch it; if you do, you will die.’ ” 4 “You won’t die!” the serpent replied to the woman. 5 “God knows that your eyes will be opened as soon as you eat it, and you will be like God, knowing both good and evil.” 6 The woman was convinced. She saw that the tree was beautiful and its fruit looked delicious, and she wanted the wisdom it would give her. So she took some of the fruit and ate it. Then she gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it, too.
Genesis 3:14–15 NLT
14 Then the Lord God said to the serpent, “Because you have done this, you are cursed more than all animals, domestic and wild. You will crawl on your belly, groveling in the dust as long as you live. 15 And I will cause hostility between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring. He will strike your head, and you will strike his heel.”
