Proper Sacrifices

The high priest carries the blood of animals into the Most Holy Place as a sin offering, but the bodies are burned outside the camp.
And so Jesus also suffered outside the city gate to make the people holy through his own blood.
Let us, then, go to him outside the camp, bearing the disgrace he bore.
For here we do not have an enduring city, but we are looking for the city that is to come.
Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that openly profess his name.
And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.

Day of Atonement - Leviticus 16
Bull and goat for the High Priest’s sins
2 goats for the people’s sins
Kill the bull and goat for the priest, sprinkle the blood in the Most Holy place, on the altar
Burn the fatty portions on the altar as a sin offering
Goat for the people, blood in the most holy place, burn the fatty portions on the altar as burnt offering for sin.
Rest of the carcasses were taken outside the camp, and burned.
The bull and the goat for the sin offerings, whose blood was brought into the Most Holy Place to make atonement, must be taken outside the camp; their hides, flesh and intestines are to be burned up.
The man who burns them must wash his clothes and bathe himself with water; afterward he may come into the camp.
Scape goat - outside the camp
Another outside the camp - Lev 13.45

And that is where Jesus suffered. Hebrews 13:12 “And so Jesus also suffered outside the city gate to make the people holy through his own blood.”
Let us, then, go to him outside the camp, bearing the disgrace he bore.
For here we do not have an enduring city, but we are looking for the city that is to come.
We need to go outside, bearing disgrace
We need to go outside, bearing disgrace
Grumbling in his home town because isn’t this the son of Joseph and Mary
Luke 4:22 “All spoke well of him and were amazed at the gracious words that came from his lips. “Isn’t this Joseph’s son?” they asked.”
Luke 4:28–29 “All the people in the synagogue were furious when they heard this. They got up, drove him out of the town, and took him to the brow of the hill on which the town was built, in order to throw him off the cliff.”
Accusing him for eating and drinking with sinners, Luke 5:30 “But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law who belonged to their sect complained to his disciples, “Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?””
Accused him of breaking the Sabbath when he didn’t follow their rules and when he healed, Luke 6:2 “Some of the Pharisees asked, “Why are you doing what is unlawful on the Sabbath?””
Family claimed he was crazy - Mark 3:21 “When his family heard about this, they went to take charge of him, for they said, “He is out of his mind.””
Claimed he was possessed and cast out demons by Beelzebul - Matthew 12:24 “But when the Pharisees heard this, they said, “It is only by Beelzebul, the prince of demons, that this fellow drives out demons.””
Accused him of blasphemy
Lied about him
Beat him
Ridiculed him
Crucified him, outside the city.
Despised and rejected
He was despised and rejected by mankind, a man of suffering, and familiar with pain. Like one from whom people hide their faces he was despised, and we held him in low esteem.
Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted.
But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.
We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us,
fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.
“Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me.
Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that openly profess his name.
And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.
