FAIR OR FOUL TERRITORY

Here we are already in the month of February! Players are reporting to Spring Training and preparing for the next SEASON. Just as baseball players we should all be looking forward the the next SEASON. For someone like Aaron Judge he is looking to improve upon the past SEASON by making this next SEASON his best yet. We should all want to improve on WHO we are and WHERE we are in the Lord. As people of GOD we should strive to make improvements at every opportunity. Judge will spend time with his hitting coach, to improve his swing, his eye for balls and strikes, along with many other things as well. As children of the MOST HIGH GOD, we too should seek to become even better than before.
Psalm 1:1–6 NKJV
1 Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; 2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord, And in His law he meditates day and night. 3 He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper. 4 The ungodly are not so, But are like the chaff which the wind drives away. 5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, Nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. 6 For the Lord knows the way of the righteous, But the way of the ungodly shall perish.
As we look into the Psalm we often wonder what is beings said and what is ment in this foundation for the Psalms. It seems so clear personally I think it is as clear as mud. Do we really understand what the author is saying with these simple yet profound words of encouragement and instruction.
One author said it like this “
Exalting Jesus in Psalms 1–50 What Do You Do When You Come to a Fork in the Road? (The Blessed Person Is the Righteous Person) (Psalm 1)

“God gives us a road map that can guide us so that when we come to a fork in the road, we will choose the right road and the wise road.”

Need slide of Road map to ________________
I want to pay particular attention to each verse as they each have far reaching and import implications for our Christian walk.
Walk Stand Sit
As we look at this first verse we see three very common things each of us do on a daily basis in our lives. Each of us walk and are mobile and able to be in one place or another. All of us stand during our day for one reason or another, maybe there are not enough seats, maybe we just need to stretch our legs, no matter we all spend time standing. the final one is that we spend time sitting either in a meeting, in the process of our work, or just to relax and enjoy something on the Television.
Each of these things are common every day things that if we are not careful with we could end up in spending time in our life’s habits not realizing we may be doing these simple things in error.
Often when we are doing these very things we could be receiving advice, moving down a path or even allowing ourselves to be influenced by those we have conversations with and what we understand as the truths of this life.
Next these relationships may grow and then the time we spend with people are not the ones who have our best interest in mind. They are frustrated by the things of this world and hold a poor or unrealistic view of things around them because they simply do not see the light at the end of the tunnel. (Jesus Christ)
scripture lamp unto our feet & light to our path
Exalting Jesus in Psalms 1–50 Don’t Walk with the Wicked

walk → stand → sit (habits of life)

advice → pathway → company (people you listen to)

wicked → sinners → mockers (company you keep)

We must understand there are more people wishing you harm or bad then there are wishing you the best. We must pay particular attention on who we choose to walk with. Are we walking in the ways of the World or Wicked or have we chosen to walk in the ways of the redeemed. Are we walking in the footsteps of the evil one or in that of the redeemed.
Next I want to ask where is it you stand? I might even go a little farther and ask you with whom do you stand. Are we standing as a part of this world or are we standing separate.

Exalting Jesus in Psalms 1–50 Don’t Stand with Sinners

The phrase stand in the pathway conveys the idea of staying a while, stopping to look and listen, and hanging around or hanging out with. The word pathway describes a manner of life, the way one lives. “Sinners” are those who miss God’s mark. They are in the habit of standing on the opposite side from God. Instead of taking a stand for God, they take their stand with those who oppose him. Their way of life is more important than Christ’s way of life. Sin becomes their pattern, and sinners become their partners. Instead of wisely imitating Christ, the ultimate blessed man (

Exalting Jesus in Psalms 1–50 Don’t Sit with Fools

The action from walking to sitting describes moving from thinking like the wicked to living like the rebellious and to ridiculing like the cynic. If we walk in the advice of the wicked, this way of life is now our home. This is where we sit. We are comfortable here.

Exalting Jesus in Psalms 1–50 Don’t Sit with Fools

Not only do the things of God not matter, but we mock as fools those who think the things of God do matter.

Exalting Jesus in Psalms 1–50 Don’t Sit with Fools

I will live my life my way.”

Proverbs 3:33–35 NASB95
33 The curse of the Lord is on the house of the wicked, But He blesses the dwelling of the righteous. 34 Though He scoffs at the scoffers, Yet He gives grace to the afflicted. 35 The wise will inherit honor, But fools display dishonor.
Proverbs 21:24 NASB95
24 “Proud,” “Haughty,” “Scoffer,” are his names, Who acts with insolent pride.
Insolent this word could be interperated to mean Arrogance
Our arrogant pride.
Banking on the King
When I think about this particular verse my mind goes back to the ancient Kingdoms. Every great ruler or monarchy would have currency that reflected the current Headship or Leader. I see the law of the Lord as his payment which was able to secure us from our rightful destination. He paid your ransom. And because he paid your ransom and mine we should be meditating on the one who loved us enough to pay our debt in which we would never have been able to of Paid.
And in my confidence or the term I used earlier Banking I know we can count on the one who is willing to plant us in an area where we can grow and prosper. Growth is when we change look at these photos
Prosper now when we see this word prosper people automatically think we are speaking of gaining financially from something. However I would that we think of Prosper in different ways. We can gain financially, However the word tells us to seek ye first the kingdom of God and his rightousness and all these things will be added unto you. We also need for other things in our life. We need to prosper in growth, knowledge, worship, understanding, praise, and willingness to be obedient to Christ.
