Singing must again become an intrinsic part of the Christian

History of the Song

The first sacred music on record is found in Job 38:7

when the morning stars sang together and all the sons of God shouted for joy?
The earliest recorded singing by men appears in Ex. 15:1, when the people of Israel rejoiced over their salvation from Egypt.

Then Moses and the people of Israel sang this song to the LORD, saying, “I will sing to the LORD, for he has triumphed gloriously; the horse and his rider he has thrown into the sea.

Remarkable Facts About the Song

It brings refreshment, and drives away evil spirits, 1 Sam. 16:23

And whenever the harmful spirit from God was upon Saul, David took the lyre and played it with his hand. So Saul was refreshed and was well, and the harmful spirit departed from him.
It provides an atmosphere favorable to the ministry of the Word, 2 Ki. 3:15, 16

The Secret of the Song

In the NT it is revealed that the secret of the song of the redeemed is found in the word of Christ dwelling in the heart, Col. 3:16

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.
It is one of the results of the filling of the Holy Spirit, Eph. 5:18, 19

And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit,

addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart,

The Subject of the Song

The new song of heaven begins on the earth. It is praise to the Lamb for having redeemed men to God by His blood out of every kindred, tongue, people and nation, Rev. 5:9.
