Who is Ruth?

Okay let me ask a question how many of you have ever made a bad decsion? in fact let me ask you this after someone told you or warned you that it was a bad decsion you still made the bad decsion? thirdly how many of you made a bad decsions as a teenager just because you thought you were smater than your parents? I’m guessing all of us. I remeber when i was 16 I started dating this girl and my parents from the very beginning saw all of the red flags and just knew that it would be a trainwreck if we started dating. But i was 16 and a girl liked me and gave me attention and im a guy… so guess how that went. Long story short we broke up and it was messy it was as my parents said a trainwreck. imagine I listend to them heinsight is always 2020 isn’t it. I wonder what would’ve happened in our lives if we were just obidient and listend to the warning or our parents or better yet God. We are going to take a look at the life of someone who was obedient to and how that lead to their redemption Her name is Ruth.
Ruth is a Moabite women and i dont know if any of you know anything about the moabites but their nation was created out of incest back in Genesis 19:30-36. because of the Moabites actions of how their nation was formed they were not allowed into the assembly of the Lord for 10 generations because they didn’t welcome the israelites during their journey to Cannan with food and water Deuteronomy 23:3. with all of this information we now arrive to Ruth in chapter 1. We see a man named Elimelech and his wife Naomi and two sons Mahlon and Kilion move to the land of Moab because of a famine that came across the land of Judah so they moved to Moab and when they get there things get bad and i mean real bad Elimelech dies and leaves Naomi with her two sons thankfully the two sons marry two moabite women named Orpah and Ruth. things were good for about 10 years then both Mahlon and KIlion die. leaving Naomi with no family except for her two daughters in law. So this is our first example of obedience that Ruth shows. Namoi had heard that the Lord has blessed the people of judah by giving them good crops again so they return home so its just Naomi, Orpah and Ruth but along the way Naomi says to Ruth and Orpah Ruth 1:8 “Go back to your mothers’ homes. And may the Lord reward you for your kindness to your husbands and to me.” They then pleaded with Naomi but eventually Orpah left and returned home but not Ruth this is what Ruth said Ruth 1:16 “Don’t ask me to leave you and turn back. Wherever you go, I will go; wherever you live, I will live. Your people will be my people, and your God will be my God.” In this moment Ruth shows immence obedience and loyalty to her Mother in Law willing to give up her entire past for her.
So We have seen our first example of Ruth’s obedience
