As an Introduction, what is this study going to be about?

This study is of a book in the Bible, known as the Gospel of John. You might say “Wait I have questions!” What is the Bible? Who was John? What is the Gospel of John?
Lets take a look...
Lets start with:

What is the Bible?

God’s inspired word.
What does that mean?
The Bible is basically a library of one major theme, that of what God wants us to know about Himself and what He reveals to us about what He is doing. This inspired word or scripture was written via God The Holy spirit over a period of 1500 years, utilizing 40 authors into a library 66 Books. Usually contained into a single bound book or electronic bundle.
God Inspired (directed or dictated) these human authors while utilizing their specific personalities and style to communicate God’s message. Every word in the original writings where exactly written as per the plan and execution of God the Holy Spirit. Although the Bible was penned by men, it is not from men, but from God.
The Bible says about itself: that it is from God Himself. That the Bible is perfect, without error and has all authority of God’s ideas revealed to us.
The Bible is God’s message to us and is the final word to mankind.
It is interesting to note, that the Bible is by far the best selling book of all time. There is an Old Testament part, which is focused on a plan of salvation through a future Messiah or Savior, while yet dealing with his (God’s) created and chosen people, Isreal. This timeline is before and leading up to Jesus, from approximately 1400 B.C to 400 B.C. or before Christ.
There is an New Testament part, that starts around 400 years later, with a sort of great news. The Good News, Salvation through Jesus the Christ, the Messiah, the Savior. The New Testament is focused on Jesus, yet dealing with all whom He saves, Jew and non Jew alike. This timeline culminates in the future end times, where God will judge, each and every person of mankind. Those that have accepted God’s pardon for their personal sin debt, based on what Jesus has done on the cross on their behalf, will be God’s saved people, Spending eternity in His presence.
The lost, whom rejected Jesus during their lifetimes, will suffer eternally and be separated from God. All in all, The Bible reveals that God is the beginning and the end, with everything in between.
WOW, is that big or what!!!
Let’s continue.

What is the Gospel of John?

Let’s start with the time and place of the Gospel of John? The time was during the Roman world around 30 A.D. In Palestine, current day Isreal.
Who were the Disciples? People that Jesus personally called to follow Him. Students of a master/apprentice type relationship over a period of about 3 years.
What is an Apostle? Most were formally of the 12 main disciples with some exceptions. Apostles were called to deliver the Gospel and the rest of the New Testament message. And on occasion, the interpretation of the Old Testament. Apostles were called individually by Jesus to lead. Apostles personally and physically met with and visually witnessed Jesus after His resurrection. The Apostles and many other disciples frequently ate with, physically touched His person, and talked with Jesus after His resurrection.
Who is John? A Disciple, personally, physically called by Jesus to follow Him. John was also an Apostle
John was the inspired author of the: The Gospel of John The letters or Epistles of: 1st John 2nd John 3rd John The Book of Revelation.
What is the Gospel about? It is the writing of John the Apostle about Jesus.
This Gospel, one of four, (Mathew, Mark, Luke and John) explains God’s plan for salvation. John demonstrates that Jesus was God in the flesh. 100% God and 100% man, and that Jesus was without any sin.
Unlike us, never once, did Jesus sin.
It was necessary for a sinless man, who was God, Jesus, to take on His shoulders all the judgement of God for all sin. Only an innocent Jesus, the Christ, the Messiah, could shed His blood on our behalf for our personal sin debt.
