Transition: I didn’t keep my grades up and that’s how human promises work.

We: That’s the problem with human promises

We’ve all experienced that… Maybe someone promised you, maybe you expected something, The World Is Full of Conditional Promises

But what happens when is God making the promise???

Does He ONLY come through for us IF we hold up our end perfectly?

God: That’s what makes the Abrahamic Covenant so special!

Genesis 12:1-3 A series of I Will statements ONLY

God promises Abraham 3 things… Land - People - Blessing

Land (V1 - Israel) - People (V2 - Jews) - Blessing (V3 - How everyone would know God)

YOU are blessed because of this covenant - Galatians 3:6-9

But the Covenant is made official with a Blood Covenant in Gen 15

Genesis 15:9-12 Abraham acquires the sacrifice, drives off the enemy, and fell asleep

Genesis 15:17-18 Smoking firepot & blazing torch

Exodus 14:1-2 - We read this like it’s no big deal - Baal Zaphon, Baal/Yam, Splitting Sea, GOD IS SERIOUS and It’s All because of Love

You: What does this mean for you today?

Abrahamic Covenant shows us this… God faithful to us solely because He’s God and He loves you.

AND YET So many of us think you need to prove something.

Some of you live in FEAR - “If I mess up God won’t love me”

Abrahamic Covenant...

1. removes our fear that God will abandon us

2. helps you trust God’s promises

3. Makes you want to drive away every attack

We: What would happen if we lived like this?

A church that points people to a promise keeping God.

Because we stand out, we’re joyful, willing to risk things, etc
