Joshua 22:34

And the children of Reuben and the children of Gad called the altar Ed: for it shall be a witness between us that the LORD is God.

I. His Preeminence.

the
Preeminence occurs 3 times in the Bible
Ecclesiastes 3:19 For that which befalleth the sons of men befalleth beasts; even one thing befalleth them: as the one dieth, so dieth the other; yea, they have all one breath; so that a man hath no preeminence above a beast: for all is vanity.
Colossians 1:18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.
3 John 1:9 I wrote unto the church: but Diotrephes, who loveth to have the preeminence among them, receiveth us not.
Preeminence is only for Jesus Christ.

II. His Person.

LORD
The Lord Jesus Christ, in the Gospel of John, made eight (number for new beginnings) definitive statements beginning with “I AM” thus connecting himself to and declaring himself to be equal with…
Jehovah (7 letters) God,
The LORD (7 letters).
In John 6:35, he said “I am the bread of life“,
in 8:12, “I am the light of the world“,
in 10:7, “I am the door“,
in 10:11, “I am the good shepherd“,
in 10:36 “I am the Son of God”
in 11:25, “I am the resurrection”,
in 14:6, “I am the way, the truth, and the life”,
in 15:1, He said “I am the true vine”.
The Lord also stated in Rev. 1:8 (also penned by the Apostle John) “I am the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, which is and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.”
And in Rev. 1:17-18, he said “I am the first and the last: I am he that liveth and was dead and behold I am alive for evermore”.

III. His Presence.

is
There will never be a time when He is not God:
God’s presence is shown throughout past history.
God’s presence is seen now.
God’s presence will be in the future as well.
In Heaven will enjoy His presence both Physically and Spiritually.
In Hell sinners will feel his presence in judgement eternally.
Psalm 139:8 “If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.”

IV. His Position.

God
He is the Unaided One.
Colossians 1:16 “For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:”
He has Unchanging Character.
Hebrews 13:8 “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.”
He has Unending Deity.
Revelation 19:16 “And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.”

Conclusion:

Do you know this God as your Saviour?
