Who was the First Man Saved by Jesus Death?

BARABBAS: The First Man Saved By Jesus Death”

All 4 Gospels mentioned Barabbas
Birth of Christ - 2
Seldom that the same of events and circumstances are mentioned by all 4 Gospels
One would say his trial, but there are variations of that
Holy Spirit made sure Barabbas is mentioned though
A Substitution took place - Jesus was headed to the cross instead of Barabbas

THE COWARD

Cruel and evil but he was not ignorant
2 Things Pilate Discerned
He Knew the Jewish Leaders were corrupt
“For he know that they had Him over because of envy.” (Matt 27:18)
From the beginning he recognized their game (Jn 18:28-31)
2. He knew Jesus was Innocent
He may not have known who Jesus was, but he know Who He wasn’t!
Pilate publicly declared Jesus to be innocent no less than 6 times (Jn 18:37-38, Lk 23:13-15, Mt 27:22-23, Jn 19:4-6, Mt 27:24)
John 19:10 ESV
So Pilate said to him, “You will not speak to me? Do you not know that I have authority to release you and authority to crucify you?”
Matthew 27:24 ESV
So when Pilate saw that he was gaining nothing, but rather that a riot was beginning, he took water and washed his hands before the crowd, saying, “I am innocent of this man’s blood; see to it yourselves.”

THE CRIMINAL

Matthew 27:15 ESV
Now at the feast the governor was accustomed to release for the crowd any one prisoner whom they wanted.
Matthew 27:16 ESV
And they had then a notorious prisoner called Barabbas.
Matthew 27:17–20 ESV
So when they had gathered, Pilate said to them, “Whom do you want me to release for you: Barabbas, or Jesus who is called Christ?” For he knew that it was out of envy that they had delivered him up. Besides, while he was sitting on the judgment seat, his wife sent word to him, “Have nothing to do with that righteous man, for I have suffered much because of him today in a dream.” Now the chief priests and the elders persuaded the crowd to ask for Barabbas and destroy Jesus.
We know nothing about Barabbas
We does not speak about
WHAT DO WE KNOW - HE WAS GUILTY
Who Was Barabbas?
He was notorious (Matt 27:16)
He was a rebel (Lk 23:19)
He was a murderer (Mk 15:7, Acts 3:14)
He was a robber (Jn 18:20)
1 Corinthians 6:9–11 ESV
Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
