GOOD MORNING CHURCH FAMILY…….
We are a church on a mission with a vision driven by the following core values:
1) God Seekers
2) Big Believers
3) Love Givers
4) Truth Tellers
5) Open Handers
And today I am going to talk about what it means to be:
6) GO-GETTER’S
6) GO-GETTER’S
Being a “go-getter” means that we are willing to walk in faith by being doers of the word of God.
Being a “go-getter” means that we are willing to walk in faith by being doers of the word of God.
22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.
James 1:22 tells us: Be doers of the word and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.
This truth reminds us that we can listen a lot and do very little. It’s a trick of the enemy to get us to sit back and not make the choice to walk in faith according to God’s will.
or We can have action with Intention.
I CAME ACROSS THIS SAYING A FEW WEEKS AGO IN ONE OF MY READINGS AND IT HITS HOME FOR THIS SERMON and I knew it would be perfect to share.
Without action, we are left with only intention, and, intention without action is useless.
Without action, we are left with only intention, and, intention without action is useless.
To be a Go-Getter you should be intentional in your Faith with your actions. And every intention should have an action. It is your choice.
Go-Getters Have FAITH IN THE FACE OF HARDSHIP
Go-Getters Have FAITH IN THE FACE OF HARDSHIP
Many in here have faced or are currently facing some form of hardship in their life; and many times, we as humans like to question why these struggles or events are taking place. We ask ourselves,” why is this even happening? Man, when will this end? What did I do to deserve this?
It is because we live in a fallen world derived from Sin and that has allowed these moments to happen. It is not of God’s doing. Sin, death and destruction that were brought into the world from the original Sin has allowed the Enemy to plant those negative thoughts.
We have all been there, I can personally say, Yes….I have had those same thoughts. When I first came to the Lord, I fully knew that I was broken and I had a million pieces to pick up to put myself back together; but I wasn’t alone in the process. The Holy Spirit stood with me and because the Helper stayed with me I stand here today, some what rebuilt, Knowing I still have many pieces to pick up, but it is a process. A process that requires endurance to define the character of my Faith through hope.
Paul said in the book of Romans
3 Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, 4 and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, 5 and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.
Though the suffering will help you build endurance, character and hope, while faced with that hardship there can be a Fear that engulfs us, and Isaiah wrote this from the Lord telling us to have hope and how to stay strong in those moments;
10 fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Stay Steadfast without Fear knowing that the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of truth, walks with you and is there to guide you; helping to shape and mold your spiritual maturity. He will help you stand firm in the spiritual battles that you will face on a daily basis. He knows the fight is at your doorstep and He will shield you with the Full Armor of God.
Remember, the enemy doesn’t waste time on sinners, he already has them, he is focusing all his time on us, the saved, the one who finds his Salvation through the shed Blood of a living God, Jesus Christ.
This reminds me of a Sermon Pastor Doug preached on Refinement in the Fire…He said, if you are not willing to walk through the Fire, you will not be refined.
Yes very true, but keep a light heart with the Holy Spirit walking with you; that refinement will produce a harvest of righteousness and peace…….a peace that brings you closer in your relationship with God where Fear does not live and cannot live!
Go-getters choose to walk by faith over fear. We choose to walk in faith even through the difficult times knowing that God did not bring those things on us, we live in a broken sinful world, bad things are going to happen, but if we have Faith in God we will make it through the hardships and be stronger!
FAITH IN THE PROCESS
FAITH IN THE PROCESS
We have all heard the saying ,“Trust the Process”, at some point in our lives, but now more than ever, that is such a true statement. We as Believers should have Full Faith in the Process, shown through that obedience and spiritual maturity we just discussed. God’s plan for our lives will workout, but only for those who follow it and when we walk out that Faith, God will grant us all the glorious blessings He has promised us.
******We are active participants in God’s process.
Let me share A scripture from James that speaks volumes:
James 1:4 NKJV
4 But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, LACKING nothing.
A few verses down James tells us that with that patience, you must believe and have zero doubt or you will be like the waves of the sea.
Now anyone who has ever been on a boat knows that when there is rough waters, the ride can get a little wild and a little western.
But just as Jesus calmed the waters with the disciples in the storm, He can calm the waters in your life.
40 He said to them, “Why are you so afraid? Have you still no faith?”
He is telling us to have Faith in Him to do so, you do that by having Faith in the process.
Recently I heard a great perspective on having Faith in the Process or having unpredictability in your life that I want to share; It speaks about the patience in Genesis 12
Abram, our Father of Faith, showed patience in faith when he was called by God. God said listen, there is somewhere I want to take you, but I am not going to tell you where because you will fast forward to the finish line. And while history will record this moment, the Land of the Promise is a really big deal, and Abram my desire is just the two of us go together. So go to the land I will show you, but I will not show you right now.
He had to GO - Abram was a go getter because he was walking in faith knowing that God will work out the details.
This is the life we are called to live; the path of the predictable is the enemy for those called to live by Faith.
The message behind this is “The more unpredictability your life; the more you are walking in the spirit, so the more predictable your life currently is, the more you are walking in flesh. “
As People of God, we were built for unpredictable seasons. We walk in faith with a living God, a Helper besides us, and a Loving Father Leading us. It is our choice to walk with Him together.
So I will tell you, if you are not getting the answer to where your journey is going to end and your on top of a mountain looking down at your promised land, You could just sit and complain and hold up God’s process, because we know God is working.
OR…… You could trust that the God of this universe is taking the time to walk with you, to guide you in the spirit, to help refine you in the process. And if that God, THE only God is moving in your life, there is something coming.
We should stop worrying so much about the end results and start GOING now in our faith knowing that God will direct us along life’s way. Time is going to pass whether we do something or not, so we might as well be GO-Getters.
Go Getters Have FAITH IN PRAYER
Go Getters Have FAITH IN PRAYER
The power of Prayer is amazing.
We should be active in our prayer life. It changes EVERYTHING.
Prayer is our way of fully showing God our submission and expressing our dependence on Him for all things. It is a doorway that all of us Christians should have opened and never close, for it allows the Light to shine in our lives and to keep the darkness away, because we all know where there is Light there can be no darkness.
Pastor Doug said it perfectly a few weeks back, God is our Aid and Support. He absolutely is.
The Lord wants us to take that time and open that door, to have that relationship that a Father would want with their child. To hear the hurt, the trouble and yes the wants and needs, but also the joys.
The Lord told us exactly how to rely on our faith in prayer in 2nd Chronicles as King Solomon had just finished building the Temple to the Lord.
14 if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
So How do we Pray?
Lets start first with how not to pray. In the Book of Matthew, Jesus told us exactly how not to pray.
5 “And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites. For they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. 6 But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.
Pray is an intimate time, set aside for you to have with the Lord and not something to be exploited.
So once again how do we pray according to Jesus?
9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. 10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread. 12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
The Father hears your prayers, he hears your needs, he hears your joys, he hears you in those moments when you need His will to be done in your Life. Do not be afraid to ask him like a child to a Father, he is listening.
13 Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it.
This is a on of the reasons why the alter is opened for those in prayer every Sunday after service and why we have prayer chains, APPS to seek those searching for the Lord and to pray for them. Why we lay hands on those who are in need.
Jesus gave us a supernatural power and delegated authority to act on His behalf. The authority received through prayer comes when we align ourselves with Gods will.
So, pray with the authority that The Lord has given you to dismantle the darkness that is influencing your lives because the power wielded by Him through prayer cannot be matched.
I want to tell you a story that is the epitome of Bold and Answered Prayers…….
I want to share a story that I heard about answered prayers. I talked before about Brandon Lake a Christian singer that I listen to and many of us know of or heard his songs, even here during worship.
I was watching a Christian Podcast by George Janko and Brandon was on and he spoke on the miracles he saw in prayer;
First one was in the middle of the set, he just stopped as people were praying at the stage, which happens throughout his set continously as the Lord moves. At this point Brandon handed the mic off to one of his buddies, a band mate and the band mate goes over to this women who is being prayed over who is uncontrollably crying to the point of screaming and his buddy yells out to Brandon, you have to hear her story, she couldn’t stop crying so the band mate told her story;
20 years ago she was in a severe accident and she had metal rods placed in both legs and her legs have been stuck straight………For 20 years they had been stuck straight. This women’s only prayer for 20 years was to be able to kneel in the presence of God and worship Him. Meanwhile Brandon looks down and she is kneeling, wheeping and worshipping.
Then another time; after the concert; prayer was still going and people were laying hands on folks and a women who was blind in one eye was being prayed over, the last guy was praying for her and then all of the sudden she stood up and yelled go get my daughter, go get my daughter, she needs to know I can see again. I can see.
Then the last one; a women with a walker who was bent over and could not stand up straight was with her grandson and husband; Brandon and his crew and others started praying for this women; almost instantaneously she stood straight up. The grandson stood in amazement and said he never knew his grandmother to ever stand up, she had been bent over like that since he could remember as a child.
Brandon said something that stuck with me from that Podcast, he said,”Expectancy is the Breeding ground for Miracles.” I agree, but add Expectancy in your Faith is the Breeding ground for Miracles.
Brandons song is a testimony of Faith in prayer and his song, To Good to Not Believe , it is a Testimony of the miracles the Lord will provide with our Faith in Prayer.
That song says I’ve seen Metal plates dissolving, I’ve seen cancer disappear, Ive seen families reunited, I’ve seen mental health restored, I’ve seen addicts set free….and the chorus is; Don’t You tell me He can’t Do it, Don’t you tell me He cant do it.
I am telling you now, with Faith in prayer “DON’T YOU TELL ME HE CANT DO IT.”
Go-getters pray. And they pray full of faith knowing that God can do more than we could ever imagine.
GO GETTERS ARE: PEOPLE OF DISCIPLESHIP
GO GETTERS ARE: PEOPLE OF DISCIPLESHIP
So how do We extend that Faith even further?
How do we put everything we discussed about our Faith in Action:
There is no better way than Discipleship. We have these Small Groups starting up soon and it is a great opportunity for any of you to step out in your faith and invite someone to come with you, or you just go yourself if your sitting on the fence.
SO, what is True discipleship.
I don’t think I would be wrong in saying that it begins with an absolute full submission, obedience and love unequivocally for Jesus Christ.
Placing him above all things in your life and ensuring that he is at the center of everything you do.
- A true disciple understands that when Jesus spoke he spoke with truth and THE truth, his word is final and we stand on His word.
- A true disciple has allowed that word to search his or her heart and to be a reminder daily that we are to walk in Grace, Mercy and Peace and be The example and light for the darkness in this world.
- A true disciple has reached a point in their walk that they understand there is no turning back and this is the life they will walk, no matter the season as Jesus is the Way, the truth and the Life.
I will ask you today to search your heart , no matter the season your in and ask yourself how are you walking in discipleship, what can you do today, tomorrow or this week to be a disciple of or I should say FOR Christ?
We are called to disciple above all things.
Jesus told us in Matthew 28, our Commission, the Great Commission. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations.
19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
I have said it here before and spoke in Men’s Meetings about the Generational shift or curse and breaking of such things and the everlasting effect it can have on our families.
Well I have a story of how one man’s obedience to the Lord and determination to stay faithful changed the course and trajectory of an entire group of important Men and their families through his Discipleship.
That is the story of the prophet Daniels Discipleship to the Magi of the East. Now we know the story of Daniel and his relentless Faith in the Lord, A Faith so strong that it had him thrown in a Lion’s Den and only his True Faith to the Lord was he able to escape without a scratch.
But little is said about Prophet Daniel’s time working for King Nebuchadnezzar assigned to the high office of “chief of the magicians, enchanters, astrologers and diviners” as described in Daniel 5:11. Basically he was the chief of the Magi in all of Babylon of the East.
During this time; the Magi were said to have studied Daniels writings, Prophecies and also other Jewish scripture of another Prophet Isaiah consencrating their Faith and belief in the Lord. Now we know of Isaiah and many of his prophecies, but one particular prophecy was the most significant. Let me explain further;
Another interpretation or name for Magi is “Wise Men” and 600 years after Daniels initial teachings and discipleship of the Magi of the East, a group of 3 Magi or Wise Men embarked on a 1000 mile journey from the East; following a star from a prophecy that signified the birth of a significant King, the King of Israel. Fast forward and we are led to Matthew Chapter 2
2 saying, “Where is he who has been born king of the Jews? For we saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.”
these 3 Magi or Wise Men, showed up to worship The King of the Jews, King Jesus!!!!!!
Daniels discipleship and teachings changed and shaped 600 years and multiple generations of Men who believed there would be a King that would set up an eternal kingdom.
I say this, so that you fully understand;
If you place your family or disciple someone who puts their family under the teaching of the Word of God, you could potentially change 600 years of generational beliefs.
We may not be prophets like Daniel, but we serve a Big God, a God that can do anything, so stand firm in your Faith knowing that God can work through anyone of us to make that happen. It all starts with a Choice. A choice to be a Go-Getter.
Before we go into prayer, I will leave you with one final message to take with you this week to pray on and meditate on.
6 And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.
The Lord is looking for people ready to GO walking in faith Knowing this: we are called to do all we can for as many as we can, knowing that God will do what only He can.
Seek Him every day, he is waiting on you.
Prayer……………..
