5 Now if anyone has caused pain, he has caused it not to me, but in some measure—not to put it too severely—to all of you. 6 For such a one, this punishment by the majority is enough, 7 so you should rather turn to forgive and comfort him, or he may be overwhelmed by excessive sorrow. 8 So I beg you to reaffirm your love for him. 9 For this is why I wrote, that I might test you and know whether you are obedient in everything. 10 Anyone whom you forgive, I also forgive. Indeed, what I have forgiven, if I have forgiven anything, has been for your sake in the presence of Christ, 11 so that we would not be outwitted by Satan; for we are not ignorant of his designs.

1 So I exhort the elders among you, as a fellow elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, as well as a partaker in the glory that is going to be revealed: 2 shepherd the flock of God that is among you, exercising oversight, not under compulsion, but willingly, as God would have you; not for shameful gain, but eagerly; 3 not domineering over those in your charge, but being examples to the flock. 4 And when the chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the unfading crown of glory. 5 Likewise, you who are younger, be subject to the elders. Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”
6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, 7 casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you. 8 Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. 9 Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world. 10 And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.

Prayer
I remember the very first time i was robbed. Like really robbed. Something taken away from me. It was my snowboard and I remembered it this week as we took our own kids to the mountains.
This is what I knew after that happened
1.Id experienced loss. Something had been taken from me.
2.I had seen the evil side of humanity.
3.I had been taken advantage of… and I would now live differently as a result.
This word DEVICES: It means Schemes, Designs, Tactics. The whole point of this series is to become aware of his devices. To become aware to what the enemy is out to do in our lives as believers.
he cant take you from Jesus. You are in Christ.
But in this life, he can bring alot of trouble unless we are on it and as paul says “ Not ignorant” of his designs.
WHEN WE READ THE BIBLE WE NEED TO LOOK FOR PRIMARILY THREE THINGS: A TRUTH TO BEHOLD, A PROMISE TO KEEP & A WARNING TO HEED
There is actually much warning all through scripture of these “DEVICES, SCHEMES, DESIGNS” by the evil one or evil ones
Job 5:12 “12 He frustrates the devices of the crafty, so that their hands achieve no success.”
Job 5:13 “13 He catches the wise in their own craftiness, and the schemes of the wily are brought to a quick end.”
Psalm 37:7 “7 Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; fret not yourself over the one who prospers in his way, over the man who carries out evil devices!”
Proverbs 12:2 “2 A good man obtains favor from the Lord, but a man of evil devices he condemns.”
Ecclesiastes 7:29 “29 See, this alone I found, that God made man upright, but they have sought out many schemes.”
Ephesians 4:14 “14 so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes.”
Here is what you gotta know and we will start here: base line
1.God Has a Plan
2.So does the devil.
(The Evil One has a plan As Well). And its because you are no longer part of his family.
1 Peter 5:8 “8 Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.”
Ephesians 6:11 “11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.”
Whats his plan?
To take you out. To Rob you of what is yours in Christ. To rip you off and make you blieve that God doesnt love you and that you are in fact a slave again.
To remove from you what Jesus has purchased for you to have
We are going to examine together in the word, get equipped so we can stand firm. Be watchful. Put on the armor and spot the schemes of the enemy
3.In Christ, We are built to overcome
Lets begin:
1 Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the Lord God had made.
He said to the woman, “Did God actually say, ‘You shall not eat of any tree in the garden’?” 2 And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat of the fruit of the trees in the garden, 3 but God said, ‘You shall not eat of the fruit of the tree that is in the midst of the garden, neither shall you touch it, lest you die.’ ” 4 But the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die. 5 For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” 6 So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate, and she also gave some to her husband who was with her, and he ate. 7 Then the eyes of both were opened, and they knew that they were naked. And they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loincloths.
ENTER DEVICE #1: But here is the first device, design or tactic of the enemy: The Oldest Trick In the Book
FALSEHOOD or in Other words: Lies.
The orignial sin, the oldest trick in the book: what he uses is LIES.
Now watch the lead up to the lie tho:
First he casts doubt on the word of God
and then comes the lie
So thats our First Heading today: We have to expose Him for WHAT HE IS

Golfers Golf, Runners Run… and the Devil tells LIES.
He doesnt just tell lies - but He is a liar. Thats WHO HE IS. so naturally thats what HE DOES.
7 As for the scoundrel—his devices are evil;
he plans wicked schemes
to ruin the poor with lying words,
even when the plea of the needy is right.
Your adversary is a liar. Its what He is, Its what He Does.
He is a liar.. and He tells LIES.
44 You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies.
What the enemy does is the oldest trick in the book:
He casts doubt
to get you to believe a lie:
Once you believe the LIE. Then you start to no longer live the overcoming CHristian life.
Here is the doubt cast: Did God really say
Is the bible really Gods word
Is there really only one way to heaven?
Is Christianity really a thing you actially need??
What did God say?
If he can get you to doubt, He’s half way to to getting you to believe the lie….
QUESTION: is there any area of your life where you have accepted anything other than Gods best? You could have believed the lie that the enemy has given you.

More than just a truth. more than just someone who brought revelation to the world.
He is “The Way, The Truth and the Life.”
What is our role here.
Is to know JESUS> and To KNOW THE TRUTH.
We need to recognize the lie and resist it and allow the truth to set us free.
what did Jesus do when tempted ?
He responds with the WORD.
1 Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. 2 And after fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. 3 And the tempter came and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, command these stones to become loaves of bread.” 4 But he answered, “It is written,
“ ‘Man shall not live by bread alone,
but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’ ”
5 Then the devil took him to the holy city and set him on the pinnacle of the temple 6 and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, for it is written,
“ ‘He will command his angels concerning you,’
and
“ ‘On their hands they will bear you up,
lest you strike your foot against a stone.’ ”
7 Jesus said to him, “Again it is written, ‘You shall not put the Lord your God to the test.’ ”
could you imagine. The devil. Trying to USE the word. Against, THE WORD?
Thats how unimaginable he is in his decietfulness, his crfitiness. His desire to MESS you up.
What the Lord Creates, The enemy COUNTERFEITS:
Thats why the word is so important, because the evil one will manufacture a comparable but its not the same thing. Some of you think that being in a relationship that looks like a marriage, but isnt a marriage is the same as a marriage - the only problem is - its not. its a counterfeit. Because its only in a marriage does the act of intercourse become completely guilt free, blameless and blessed.
14 And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.
So what do we do?
do we study the schemes of the devil? its good to be aware of them.
But you know what the best thing is when you want to know be able to spot the fake? Know whats REAL first.
Because when youve experienced Gods goodness and his grace first hand. and you know the truth - what comes along as close but not quite NEVER makes it into your spirit and your life because you know the truth TOO WELL>
***** people who study money counterfeiting dont go around trying to learn what all the criminals are doing and the latest counterfeits. They just study the real. They know whats real so well that its easy to spot a fake.

We reconcile our life, our decisions and our situations combined with truth.

7 The Lord said to Satan, “From where have you come?” Satan answered the Lord and said, “From going to and fro on the earth, and from walking up and down on it.” 8 And the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, who fears God and turns away from evil?”
