What a great weekend, what have yall enjoyed most so far?

What did you think of service tonight?

Session 3 Introduction

Proverbs 3:5–6 ESV
5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. 6 In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.
What do you want your future to look like?
married/single ; where to live ; career ; kids ; car/truck
attend church? serving? discipling your kids? spouse that spiritually challenges you?
All of you have opportunities for your future. There are different friends, college, career, family & lifestyle paths. There is ONE PATH that takes you through all of these decisions and places you where need to be even when its not always where you want to be. There are going to be decisions in life that are easy and there are going to be some that are challenging. There are going to be moments where you won’t like the outcome.
What brings you peace in these moments?
If you responded with JESUS (Sunday school answer), why or how does Jesus bring peace in these moments?
When we fully Trust in the Lord, there is peace about the future before us. Not everything is known and easy but you can have peace about the future that is unknown. Let’s take a look at Proverbs 3:6 and see where TRUSTING in the Lord takes us!

TRUSTING IN THE LORD

TRANSFORMS OUR DESTINATION

We started Friday night by addressing how we TRUST in the Lord with all of heart. The author almost says the same thing a different way as he start verse 6. The first time addressed our heart. Now he seems to be addressing something else.
What does verse 6 seem to be referring to?
What does acknowledge mean? What part of the body does this? THE MIND
ACKNOWLEDGE — To recognize the rights and authority of God in everything I do
to disclose or reveal that I know Him
to agree with Him in everything I do
Is there a reason God addresses the heart before the mind?
What does the heart contain that the mind does not? our spirit/who we are.
Once we Trust in the Lord with all of our heart, we are to INWARDLY and OUTWARDLY express our TRUST in the Lord. ACKNOWLEDGING starts in the mind and continues in daily action. Acknowledging God in all your ways starts in the morning the moment you get out of bed.
What does your morning routine look like?
text messages, social media, hopefully breakfast and then brush your teeth
For most people, Jesus is not the first thing on their mind once fully awake. Is Jesus on your mind at all in the mornings? Acknowledging Jesus starts in the mind. Before it takes action in our daily life we must first mentally acknowledge (refer back to definition) Jesus before we start our day.
IN THE MORNING… recognize the rights and authority of God in everything I do
IN THE MORNING…  disclose or reveal that I know Him
IN THE MORNING…  agree with Him in everything I do
What does acknowledging Jesus look like each morning? (TAKE TIME TO GO THROUGH THESE EXAMPLES AND EXPLAIN WHAT THEY LOOK LIKE IN A BELIEVER’S LIFE)
prayer
reading the Bible
worship
Bible conversations with family (normalize sharing the Bible in the home)
Acknowledging the Lord in all your ways in the morning equips you to take action during the day. When decisions of life come/when temptations come you are equipped to face these challenges. Jesus has the right to guide me in every moment and situation. When I truly acknowledge Him, I submit to His ways, trusting His perfect wisdom and understanding.
What moment of your life right now, do you need to recognize before God so that action can start to take place?
(Your boldness to share might be the moment for others to share and surrender)
The action that takes place is the last part of verse 6 “He will make your paths straight” or “ He will direct your paths.” To better understand this lets look at two moments in Proverbs.
Proverbs 8:1–3 ESV
1 Does not wisdom call? Does not understanding raise her voice? 2 On the heights beside the way, at the crossroads she takes her stand; 3 beside the gates in front of the town, at the entrance of the portals she cries aloud:
Proverbs 9:13–16 ESV
13 The woman Folly is loud; she is seductive and knows nothing. 14 She sits at the door of her house; she takes a seat on the highest places of the town, 15 calling to those who pass by, who are going straight on their way, 16 “Whoever is simple, let him turn in here!” And to him who lacks sense she says,
Romans 10:10 “10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.”
