Introduction

Holiness and Morality

When you read the command to “be holy,” what do you think of (Lev. 19:2)?
It is easy to connect holiness with obvious moral commands (Lev. 18).
Likewise, the rituals are easy to connect with the idea of holiness (Lev. 1-5).
Perhaps we can even see holiness in how we treat others (Lev. 19:18).

Holiness and the Details

The Law regulates even the most mundane parts of life (Lev. 19:19, 27; 11:46-47; 14:33-53).
We see this even more as we extend to the rest of the Law (Ex. 23:19; Num. 15:37-41; Deut. 22:6-8).
It would have been impossible to go any amount of time without a reminder of God.

Learning Holiness

Our lives are not as thoroughly regulated (Acts 10:14-15).
But our food still needs to be clean (1 Tim. 4:4-5).
What do you do that has nothing to do with God (Col. 1:15-17).
Are we learning to see the world the way God sees the world (1 Cor. 9:9).
