THINK OF A TIME IN YOUR LIFE THAT YOU FULFILLED YOUR FLESHLY DESIRES….WENT AGAINST GOD’S DESIGN FOR YOUR LIFE….. HOW DID YOU FEEL?
Genesis 3:1–7 “1 Now the serpent was more crafty than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said to the woman, “Indeed, has God said, ‘You shall not eat from any tree of the garden’?” 2 The woman said to the serpent, “From the fruit of the trees of the garden we may eat; 3 but from the fruit of the tree which is in the middle of the garden, God has said, ‘You shall not eat from it or touch it, or you will die.’ ” 4 The serpent said to the woman, “You surely will not die! 5 “For God knows that in the day you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” 6 When the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was desirable to make one wise, she took from its fruit and ate; and she gave also to her husband with her, and he ate. 7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loin coverings.”

1 John 2:16 “16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world.”
Adam participated in the eating/sin, Adam did not step up or in to protect and provide
Genesis 3:8–10 “8 They heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden. 9 Then the Lord God called to the man, and said to him, “Where are you?” 10 He said, “I heard the sound of You in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid myself.””
-God called to the man first
-the hid, we hide, try and cover our sin and hide our faces
-WHERE ARE YOU? God knows where you are, take an honest look, where are you mentally, spiritually, physically, emotionally? WHERE ARE YOU? ARE YOU WHERE YOU WANT TO BE?

V 21 the first SACRIFICE- made for the covering of their sin
-weight of sin
-the weight of HIS LOVE
Man was driven our of the garden- sin drives us out of the presence of GOD….. out of His Will….. out of His flourishing
ORIGINAL SIN-
Man is the special creation of God, made in His own image. He created them male and female as the crowning work of His creation. The gift of gender is thus part of the goodness of God’s creation. In the beginning man was innocent of sin and was endowed by his Creator with freedom of choice. By his free choice man sinned against God and brought sin into the human race. Through the temptation of Satan man transgressed the command of God, and fell from his original innocence whereby his posterity inherit a nature and an environment inclined toward sin. Therefore, as soon as they are capable of moral action, they become transgressors and are under condemnation.
GOSPEL-
GOD’S PROMISES-

2 And you were dead in your trespasses and sins 2 in which you previously walked according to the ways of this world, according to the ruler of the power of the air, the spirit now working in the disobedient. 3 We too all previously lived among them in our fleshly desires, carrying out the inclinations of our flesh and thoughts, and we were by nature children under wrath as the others were also. 4 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of his great love that he had for us, 5 made us alive with Christ even though we were dead in trespasses. You are saved by grace! 6 He also raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavens in Christ Jesus, 7 so that in the coming ages he might display the immeasurable riches of his grace through his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. 8 For you are saved by grace through faith, and this is not from yourselves; it is God’s gift—9 not from works, so that no one can boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared ahead of time for us to do.

What does the serpent's approach to Eve reveal about the nature of temptation?
What do Adam and Eve's actions teach us about the importance of knowing God's Word? (and/but not just knowing God’s Word-obeying it)
How can we better own our mistakes instead of making excuses or placing blame?
What moment popped in your head when we asked about how you felt after fulfilling the desires of your flesh?
Share about a moment in your life when you did not give into the desires of the flesh, but walked in God’s design. How did you walk in that freedom?
How does understanding the weight of sin help us better understand the greatness of God’s LOVE?
