intro:grace, mercy, and peace

every verse has great stuff to discuss:
who is Paul and why is he able to write this letter that was put in the Bible?
who is Timothy? Why was he in Ephesus?
Why do you think it was important that Paul begin his letter(s) with grace and peace, and this time with mercy?

Guard the Gospel!

two ways to not use the gospel:
adding to it
teaching that the law saves us
when the law is misused:
produces arrogance and ignorance
produces confusion and deception among those who hear
how do we use it?
it shows us what God has said is sinful
it condemns us of our sin
it shows us God’s will for those who are saved
this produces:
responsibility to teachers
love among the hearers

celebrate the Gospel!

we have the good news because Christ humbled himself to take on flesh for us.
what does this act help us understand about Jesus?
What does Paul’s sinful past life tell you about God’s grace? it is unconditional
What should our knowledge of this grace lead us to do? PRAISE!

fight for the gospel!

How can you yourself fight for the good news that has been given to you?
who could you begin to invest in and help them fight for the gospel in their life?
