We need to Pray, Know, Say and Go

We need to PRAY
We must bathe our evangelism in prayer.
No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him. Jn 6:44.
“Prayer is crucial in evangelism: Only God can change the heart of someone who is in rebellion against Him. No matter how logical our arguments or how fervent our appeals, our words will accomplish nothing unless God's Spirit prepares the way.”
Billy Graham
Pray for BOB
Boldness to speak
Opportunities to share
Belief for the hearer
HANDOUT: Take 5 Cards
Key things to remember:
It starts and ends with prayer
You could be praying for a long time
Prayer puts trust in the Holy Spirit, not in yourself
We need to KNOW
We must know and be able to share the story of the gospel simply and clearly.
For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching?
Ro 10:13–14.
HANDOUT: MySharePal Card
Key things to remember:
The gospel is simple...don’t make it complicated
Answering questions is great, but don't get distracted from talking about Jesus
Trust in the power of the gospel, not in yourself (two 6th grade boys story)
We need to SAY
We need to say, be able to speak, our testimony.
Your testimony is a description of how the gospel HAS and IS impacting your life.
EVERY Christian has a testimony.
And they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they loved not their lives even unto death.
Re 12:11.
Blood of the Lamb: GOSPEL
Word of their testimony: YOUR FAITH STORY
Our testimony, aside from scripture, is our most powerful witnessing tool.
HANDOUT: Testimony Work Sheet
Run through 4 parts:
Before
During
After
Gospel
Key things to remember:
There is no such thing as a boring testimony (story of my “boring testimony”)
Your history is told in order to relate to those struggling with similar issues, not to be the highlight of your story.
Talk more about God than yourself
We need to GO
We must intentionally and continually go to people and share the Good News.
And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!”
Ro 10:15.
Key things to remember:
It is a conversation, not a lecture.
It can be an ongoing conversation...not a one-time deal
You may not be the only one conversing with them
It is not a sales pitch
It’s not an argument or debate
Your success is in sharing...not their response
You are not their savior
CHALLENGE:
Do something different in the name of Jesus
