Trusting in God’s Provision
Main Scripture: Exodus 16:2-20
Main Point: Worship and trust are the right responses to God’s provision.
---
Introduction:
Life is filled with challenges that test our faith and patience. Just like the Israelites in the wilderness, we often find ourselves complaining when things don’t go our way. But through their story, we learn that God provides even when we are undeserving. Today, we will explore how God calls us to respond to His provision with trust and worship.

I. Ingratitude Leads to Complaining (Exodus 16:2-3)
I. Ingratitude Leads to Complaining (Exodus 16:2-3)
1**Forgetting Past Deliverance**
- The Israelites had just witnessed God’s power in parting the Red Sea, yet they quickly forgot His faithfulness.
- We often do the same—when new challenges arise, we forget past blessings.
2. Distorting the Past
- They exaggerated their former comfort in Egypt, ignoring the reality of their slavery.
- Complaining can blind us to the truth and make us long for things that weren’t good for us.
3. Failing to Trust God’s Plan
- Instead of turning to God in faith, they turned to complaining.
- When we complain, we express doubt in God’s care and wisdom.

II. God Provides Even When We Are Undeserving (Exodus 16:4-5, 8-20)
II. God Provides Even When We Are Undeserving (Exodus 16:4-5, 8-20)
1. Provision Despite Complaining
- God rained down manna from heaven, proving that He is faithful even when we are not.
- This teaches us that God’s grace is not based on our merit but on His love.
2. A Test of Trust
- God commanded them to gather only what they needed daily to teach dependence on Him.
- Trusting God means relying on His provision rather than hoarding in fear.
3. Disobedience Brings Consequences
- Some kept extra manna, but it spoiled, showing that disobedience leads to unnecessary hardship.
- When we fail to trust God’s timing and provision, we experience avoidable struggles.
III. Jesus, the True Bread from Heaven (John 6:51)
III. Jesus, the True Bread from Heaven (John 6:51)
1. Manna Was Temporary, Jesus Is Eternal
- The manna sustained the Israelites physically, but Jesus, the Bread of Life, sustains us spiritually.
- He satisfies our deepest hunger—our need for salvation and relationship with God.
2. A Call to Trust in Christ
- Just as the Israelites had to trust God daily for manna, we must trust Jesus daily for our spiritual needs.
- When we abide in Him, we find true satisfaction and peace.
Conclusion: Responding with Worship and Trust
1. **Replace Complaining with Gratitude**
- Keep a journal of God’s blessings to remember His faithfulness.
- Speak words of thanks instead of words of discontent.
2. **Trust in God’s Daily Provision**
- Just as God provided manna daily, He provides what we need each day.
- Pray for daily strength, wisdom, and provision.
3. **Fix Your Eyes on Jesus**
- He is our ultimate provision, the Bread of Life who meets our deepest needs.
- Worship Him in all circumstances, knowing He is faithful.
**Closing Prayer:**
Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your provision and grace. Help us to trust in You instead of complaining. May we always remember that Jesus is our true Bread from Heaven, sustaining us in all things. Amen.
