Build Connection
Jeanette and I were at Rose’s funeral service and then the graveside service. While we were at the graveside we walked passed many many headstones with names on them I did not recognize. The information on those markers was lacking, most, apart from a name, only had a date of birth and death.
As I was thinking about the names on those markers I wondered what kind of people they may have been like?
What they did for a living?
Where they lived?
What hobbies they had?
What where their passions?
Create Tension
We all have passions, but those passions are often limited. Limited by time, physical requirements,
We like to say were all in, but are we?
There is something we can not afford to be lacking in when it comes to being all in…
Provide Solution
Isaiah 6:1–5 (NLT)
It was in the year King Uzziah died* that I saw the Lord. He was sitting on a lofty throne, and the train of his robe filled the Temple. Attending him were mighty seraphim, each having six wings. With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they flew. They were calling out to each other,
“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of Heaven’s Armies!
The whole earth is filled with his glory!”
Their voices shook the Temple to its foundations, and the entire building was filled with smoke.
Then I said, “It’s all over! I am doomed, for I am a sinful man. I have filthy lips, and I live among a people with filthy lips. Yet I have seen the King, the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.”
Only once in sacred Scripture is an attribute of God elevated to the third degree. Only once is a characteristic of God mentioned three times in succession. The Bible says that God is holy, holy, holy. Not that He is merely holy, or even holy, holy. He is holy, holy, holy. The Bible never says that God is love, love, love, or mercy, mercy, mercy, or wrath, wrath, wrath, or justice, justice, justice. It does say that he is holy, holy, holy, the whole earth is full of His glory.

We as humans can never experience true holiness in experience, we can positionally.
Why see God as holy
he is trustworthy
guarantees no hidden agenda or motives
represents a model of perfection
James 1:13–15 “13 And remember, when you are being tempted, do not say, “God is tempting me.” God is never tempted to do wrong, and he never tempts anyone else. 14 Temptation comes from our own desires, which entice us and drag us away. 15 These desires give birth to sinful actions. And when sin is allowed to grow, it gives birth to death.”
he never tempts anyone else… God does not directly nor indirectly tempt us.
Hebrews 12:14 (NLT)
14 Work at living in peace with everyone, and work at living a holy life, for those who are not holy will not see the Lord.
Leviticus 11:44–45 (NLT)
44 For I am the Lord your God. You must consecrate yourselves and be holy, because I am holy. So do not defile yourselves with any of these small animals that scurry along the ground. 45 For I, the Lord, am the one who brought you up from the land of Egypt, that I might be your God. Therefore, you must be holy because I am holy.
Romans 6:12–16 (NLT)
12 Do not let sin control the way you live; do not give in to sinful desires. 13 Do not let any part of your body become an instrument of evil to serve sin. Instead, give yourselves completely to God, for you were dead, but now you have new life. So use your whole body as an instrument to do what is right for the glory of God. 14 Sin is no longer your master, for you no longer live under the requirements of the law. Instead, you live under the freedom of God’s grace.
15 Well then, since God’s grace has set us free from the law, does that mean we can go on sinning? Of course not! 16 Don’t you realize that you become the slave of whatever you choose to obey? You can be a slave to sin, which leads to death, or you can choose to obey God, which leads to righteous living.
Romans 12:1–5 (NLT)
1 And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him. 2 Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
The problem of living sacrifice is that they try to crawl off the altar.
It is up to God to give us the strength but it is up to us to obey!
1 Peter 1:13–15 (NLT)
13 So prepare your minds for action and exercise self-control. Put all your hope in the gracious salvation that will come to you when Jesus Christ is revealed to the world. 14 So you must live as God’s obedient children. Don’t slip back into your old ways of living to satisfy your own desires. You didn’t know any better then. 15 But now you must be holy in everything you do, just as God who chose you is holy.

Let go and Let God!
Let go and Let God!
We need to be cautious that we do not expect God to do what we are called to do!
when the check engine lights come on do we take notice?
When God sends us a warning do we notice and act accordingly?
Encourage Change
Some people say it takes time to be holy, actually it takes time to be mature, but it just takes a decision to be Holy.
