Introduction

Vocation
1 Peter 2:9 “But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.”
Two hats

I. You Have Skills & Intelligence From God v. 1

In whom the Lord has put skill and intelligence
The same Holy Spirit that created the world in six days is the same one empowering you.
Where should I do it?

Motivation: Meaning Coming to Life

The Prairie Project was a ministry given by God, but we didn’t know much else. We could have spent months developing a plan for the prairie, instead, we took the first step we know God wanted us to take. Once we did that, God progressively has been leading us as we go.

Enablement

God hasn’t ask you to do something He hasn’t prepare the way before you.
What should I do?
Stop thinking about all that your lacking or ways things wont work and start focusing on what you do know and the next step needed to move forward.

III. You Have A Divine Calling v. 1

Shall work in accordance with all that the Lord has commanded
God gave the details, the people made it happen.
What should I do

Enablement

What should I do?
Think through your involvement in society (boards, groups, extra curricular activities). You probable are doing these things because of the skill or intellect you bring. Now, think of your personal mission for being involved. How well does it align with God command for you to be his minister?

IV. You Have A Choice To Make v. 2

Everyone whose heart stirred him up to come to do the work
To lift one up (indicating action)
Sometimes God does the stirring up of the individual, but here, it is the person’s own heart. It was up to them to decided if they wanted to be a part. God only ask help from those who are willing to serve.

Enablement

What should I do?
Don’t always expect God to stir the desire or passion up within you. Hoe to stir yourself up
Notice the change happening in people’s lives
Listen for where people are hurting and think about what God offers
Take time to process what things came together that day (e.g., situation & scripture reading)
When you read a promise of God, stop and think of how you have experienced his faithfulness

V. You Have Joint Stakeholders v. 3

Motivation: Meaning Coming to Life

Moses, Aaron, and Hur at the top of the mountain during the battle with Amalek
Everyone had a party to play in the battle.

Enablement

What should I do?
The task can feel overwhelming and insurmountable if we only think of ourselves.
Ephesians 4:11–12 “And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ,”
God has brought many skills and intellect into His church. We need to rely on the the skills and intellect of others to function at our highest level.
Where should I do it
That means it takes being a part of the local church. Not attending a local church, but being a part.
