PRAISE Church
Army, acronyms are a way of life and they have stuck with me. I was going about my day and I had this thought go through my mind and I told Jeanie “quick take a note’ and I started rattling off what would become this series.
P.R.A.I.S.E. : Who is Praise Church?
At the end of this 6 week journey, you will have a short elevator pitch of who we are and what we stand for.
What is the first letter of PRIASE?
P
Here are Praise Church we PROCLAIM THE GOSPEL!
We are a people focused on the WORD OF GOD and that WORD will be at the heart of all we do!
We Proclaim the Gospel - Everywhere, without exceptions!
1. Proclaim Everywhere, Without Exceptions
1. Proclaim Everywhere, Without Exceptions
Then he said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.
Quick question: Where are we? IN THE WORLD!
Jesus gave us a Great Commission - it is a Great Mission - it is the driving force behind the entire Christian life - to GO and to make disciples. That all begins, as Jesus says: by PREACHING THE GOSPEL to ALL CREATION.
Which means when we gather here: We get a message from the Word of GOD for the People of God, for the GLORY of GOD, in OBEDIENCE to GOD, FOR YOUR GOOD!
It also means that when we walk out of the doors of this church, we are going to be PROCLAIMING by our actions.
It has been said there there are 5 Gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke, John and YOU - and most people won’t read the first four. That means that they are more likely to read you, your actions, examine your life - and see if this Jesus that you claim to have faith in is actually life changing. What sets you apart.
So I can preach the Word of GOD - we can be focused on the WORD of God when at church; but the impact of PROCLAIMING the GOSPEL is that our life should show, should proclaim, life change.
Which leads us to the next thing about PROCLAIMING the GOSPEL:
2. PROCLAIM, So Others May Believe
2. PROCLAIM, So Others May Believe
How, then, can they call on him they have not believed in? And how can they believe without hearing about him? And how can they hear without a preacher? And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news.
Man I love this verse. Because this verse is real. It brings reality into the mix.
It is all about LIFE STYLE.
See the Words of Paul:
How can they call upon the name they do not believe in?
How can they believe if they have not heard about Him?
How can they hear if there is no-one preaching about him?
How can they hear the Preacher if no Preacher is sent?
As it is written: How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news.
Let’s realize what Paul is saying here:
When you bring good NEWS: YOU ARE THE BEAUTIFUL FEET OF THE LORD! You WENT - You literally cried out and answered the Call in Isaiah:
Then I heard the voice of the Lord asking:
Who will I send?
Who will go for us?
I said:
Here I am. Send me.
GOD called out asking a question: WHO WILL GO FOR US?
Who is willing?
Isaiah said: ME! I am willing!
Paul brings that full circle because God is still calling out: WHO WILL GO FOR US? Because the harvest is plentiful but the workers are few my friends.
And when you GO it is because you are being sent: by God and by the church
when I go where?
When you GO OUT FROM HERE!
Maybe that is on a mission trip. Maybe as a Missionary. Or Maybe as an AMBASSADOR for Christ in your daily life!
You Job is to be a preacher with your words and your life.
So that people can hear about this SAVIOR named Jesus, and may believe in HIS GREAT NAME, and CALL OUT TO BE SAVED by the Savior of came so that NONE shall perish but all may have eternal life!
Brothers and Sisters we Proclaim the Gospel! everywere, without exceptions or apology, so others may believe; and we PROCLAIM Christ Crucified!
3. Proclaim Christ Crucified!
3. Proclaim Christ Crucified!
but we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to the Jews and foolishness to the Gentiles. Yet to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God, because God’s foolishness is wiser than human wisdom, and God’s weakness is stronger than human strength.
Brothers and sisters, consider your calling: Not many were wise from a human perspective, not many powerful, not many of noble birth. Instead, God has chosen what is foolish in the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen what is weak in the world to shame the strong. God has chosen what is insignificant and despised in the world—what is viewed as nothing—to bring to nothing what is viewed as something, so that no one may boast in his presence. It is from him that you are in Christ Jesus, who became wisdom from God for us—our righteousness, sanctification, and redemption
There is nothing more powerful than the absolute truth of the Crucifixion and Resurrection. We cannot preach one without the other. We Preach Christ Crucified.
It is mind blowing for people to understand and accept, but it is absolute truth.
Christ Crucified forces us to ask and answer the question WHY? Why did Jesus have to come and be crucified?
Because even the absolute best of us is SINFUL.
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God;
Everyone say ALL!
ALL have sinned
ALL have fallen short.
and Jesus came for ALL!
The people have to hear the message. It is the most offensive message because it goes against everything that people are told and taught and believe.
“well most people are good” - that’s what Captain Smiley says.
“99% of the people out there are good people with good hearts” - that’s a popular line
The heart is more deceitful than anything else,
and incurable—who can understand it?
All of us have become like something unclean,
and all our righteous acts are like a polluted garment;
all of us wither like a leaf,
and our iniquities carry us away like the wind.
Man is sinful - BUT GOD!
But God loves me as I am - No!
God loves you DESPITE the way you are!
That’s why He sent Jesus! To pay the debt you could not pay, to bring you into spiritual life, and to transform you!
Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.
Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. We all, with unveiled faces, are looking as in a mirror at the glory of the Lord and are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory; this is from the Lord who is the Spirit.
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed away, and see, the new has come!
I can go on and on, We Proclaim the Gospel - the GOOD NEWS - that though we are sinners, God sent the Savior, that though we do not deserve it, God sent the Savior, though we have no worth - God sent the savior - who died on the cross - because HE first loved us!
We Proclaim the GOSPEL - always!
4. Proclaim It ALWAYS
4. Proclaim It ALWAYS
Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; correct, rebuke, and encourage with great patience and teaching.
Preach the Word
Be ready IN season and OUT of season - is there Preaching season? NO! It does not matter how you feel, that is the message! When you would normally be preaching, and when you would normally be resting - BE PREPARED! ALL OPPORTUNITIES!
Maybe you were going to an event to hear the Word preached, and then the speaker could not make it, or was just running late - and the opportunity arose for you to suddenly speak: could you? The word of God says you should be PREPARED!
Not justo get up and spout good sounding words: But to PREACH THE WORD! To rightly hand the WORD OF GOD!
To stand up and PROCLAIM TRUTH! TO CORRECT, REBUKE, and ENCOURAGE with great patience and teaching.
Correct, rebuke, and ENCOURAGE with great patience and teaching
Correct - no that’s not right - the Bible says this. I do it all the time.
REBUKE - to call attention to wrongdoing AND assign responsibility. It is stronger. It is not just correcting, but saying HEY there is a BIG issue and it needs to be addressed, because SO AND SO said this and it is WRONG; but we are going to walk with our brother to course correct if possible.
ENCOURAGE
and to do it all with GREAT PATIENCE and teaching - because we are all children and children require patience and teaching.
