Video - Week 5
Title of the Message this Morning is:
“UNLOCKING GOD’S PLAN FOR SUCCESS”
Summary:
Summary:
Success can be found in many different places.
Success can be found in many different places.
The movie Pride takes place in 1974 and life is not easy for a black male, even a college-educated one like Jim Ellis (Terrence Howard), to find employment.
Struggling to find anything better, Jim, a former competitive swimmer, accepts the job of dismantling the decrepit Marcus Foster Recreation Center operated by the Philadelphia Department of Recreation.
The center includes a rundown swimming pool, which Ellis rehabilitates.
Ellis' presence and activities causes friction with a bitter, overprotective janitor named Elston (Bernie Mac).
One day, Jim invites a group of black teens who have just been thrown off the basketball court in the Center's yard in for a swim.
Andre, Hakim, Reggie, Puddin’ Head, and Walt prove to be fairly capable swimmers and with a few pointers, could become great swimmers.
With some help from Elston, Jim decides to try to save the public swimming pool by starting the city's first all African-American swim team.
When the team also acquires Willie, a female swimmer more gifted than any of the boys, the prospects of competing against much more experienced rival teams begin to seem more positive.
Throughout the team’s struggles, in or out of the swimming pool, Jim embraces and mentors the kids, helping them become successful at swimming and struggle against prejudice, crime, and poverty.
This great film, along with other favorites such as Remember the Titans, Glory Road, Men of Honor, Gifted Hands, The Great Debate, The Tuskegee Airman, The Express, and many others prove that Success is Born on Both Sides of the Street, regardless of where you were born, your family situation, how you view yourself, or how others view you.
Today, God’s word will show you that He has given all of us everything we need to be successful for the Kingdom of God.
We must understand that the more we let our light shine, the more God gets the credit, and the more God gets the credit, the more He is glorified.

PREPARE YOURSELF FOR THE PROCESS
(Matt 25:19)
IN ORDER FOR SUCCESS TO BE BORN, IT MUST BE CULTIVATED
At home, you might find that your family communication is suffering, leading to conflicts and misunderstandings.
To cultivate success in your family relationships, consider setting aside dedicated family time each week where everyone shares their thoughts and feelings.
Create a safe space, perhaps during dinner, where each person can speak without interruption.
This practice not only nurtures deeper connections but also helps everyone feel valued, which is essential for a harmonious home.
IN ORDER FOR SUCCESS TO BE BORN, THERE MUST BE A NEED
With everything going on in our world today, you observe a growing disconnection within your community—people are increasingly isolated. (covid didn’t help )
This is why we have the need for connection and fellowship.
What are somethings we can do to help with the need?
Host a neighborhood potluck or community cleanup day to bring people together.
Use platforms like social media or community boards to promote the event.
Not only will this help foster relationships among neighbors, but it will also serve as a practical expression of loving your community, reflecting the Gospel’s call to love others.
IN ORDER FOR SUCCESS TO BE BORN, IT MUST GO THROUGH ROAD BLOCKS
If you feel overlooked for promotions or professional development at your workplace, this can become a frustrating roadblock.
Instead of resigning to disappointment, take the initiative to seek feedback and request mentorship from someone you respect.
Set specific career goals together and chart your progress.
This proactive stance, rooted in prayer and discernment, can transform a stagnant situation into an exciting growth opportunity, aligning with Philippians 4:13, which says that through Christ, you can do all things.
TRANS:
Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. James 1:17
II. GOD GIVES ALL OF US TALENTS
II. GOD GIVES ALL OF US TALENTS
BE EXCITED ABOUT THE POSSIBILITIES
Matthew 25:20-23
FOCUS ON THE POSITIVE WAYS YOU CAN USE YOUR SUCCESS
Consider the life of Joseph in the Bible, who despite facing tremendous hardships, rose to power in Egypt.
Rather than using his position solely for personal gain, he focused on using his success to save countless lives during a famine.
This teaches us that true success lies not in the accolades we receive, but in how we can extend a hand to those around us through our achievements.
FOCUS ON THE PEOPLE WHO WILL BE BLESSED BY YOUR SUCCESS
Jesus taught us the importance of others in His analogy of the Good Samaritan.
The Samaritan’s choice to help the wounded man was an act of success that benefited another.
His actions rippled outwards, showing that our victories are most meaningful when shared.
As we pursue our goals, we should ask ourselves: who else will benefit from our achievements? (unlike when people wouldn’t share with others on the job)
Remember, true success comes when we are conduits of blessing in the lives of others.
FOCUS ON THE RIGHT WAY TO ACHIEVE SUCCESS
A student worked hard and diligently aimed for an A in every subject.
He studied through the night, but one day he realized that his obsession with grades had made him miss out on friendships and experiences.
Success isn’t just about the grades we achieve, but the relationships we build along the way.
True success includes balancing our accomplishments with meaningful connections with others.
TRANS:
From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked. Luke 12:48b
GOD GIVES ALL OF US FREE WILL
GOD GIVES ALL OF US FREE WILL
DON’T BE AFRAID TO CHOOSE SUCCESS
Matthew 25:25
DON’T BE AFRAID OF FAILURE, ON YOUR WAY TO SUCCESS
Thomas Edison famously said, ‘I have not failed.
I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.’
Each failure he experienced was a stepping stone towards the invention of the light bulb.
This demonstrates that failure can lead to ultimate success if we keep persisting and learning from our mistakes.
Just like the biblical figure Moses faced many challenges before leading his people to the Promised Land, our journeys may be filled with setbacks, but they are essential for growth and achievement.
DON’T BE AFRAID OF THE HARD WORK REQUIRED TO GAIN SUCCESS
Consider the story of David.
He spent years tending sheep, honing skills that seemed trivial at the time.
Yet it was his hard work and perseverance in the fields that prepared him for his battle with Goliath.
When we face our giants, we must remember that the hard work we put into our personal growth can be what sets us up for success when it truly matters.
DON’T BE AFRAID OF THE REWARDS THAT COME FROM SUCCESS
In the Parable of the Talents, we see a master giving his servants bags of gold.
He rewards those who invest and take risks, while the one who hides his talent out of fear is reprimanded.
This teaches us that success often requires stepping out of our comfort zones.
God entrusts us with gifts not to hide them, but to multiply them for His glory.
When we embrace the opportunities before us, we open the door to incredible rewards.

Salvation:
The Word of God says in: John 3:16
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
If you’d would like to receive Jesus today, please pray this prayer with all of us:
Lord I believe that Jesus is the Son of God, and that He died On the cross for my sins and His resurrection from the dead gives me eternal life. I ask forgiveness of my sins, and I accept Jesus as my Lord and Savior. Amen.

We do not draw people to Christ by loudly discrediting what they believe, by telling them how wrong they are and how right we are, but by showing them a light that is so lovely that they want with all their hearts to know the source of it.” -Madeliene L’Engle (Lang ill)
