Pay careful attention, then, to how you walk—not as unwise people but as wise—
making the most of the time, because the days are evil.
So don’t be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is.
And don’t get drunk with wine, which leads to reckless living, but be filled by the Spirit:
speaking to one another in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing and making music with your heart to the Lord,
giving thanks always for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,
submitting to one another in the fear of Christ.
Main Point: Imitate God in His Wisdom (Walk In Wisdom)
(V15) Wisdom is Careful:
Walking in wisdom takes careful attention, we don’t stumble into wise living
(V16) Wisdom is Efficient:
It is using our days wisely, using every precious second given for the sake of wisdom.
(V17-18) Wisdom is Spiritual:
Walking in wisdom means seeking to understand God’s will and applying it to our lives (His will is clear in Ephesians, and our lives should reflect this truth.) Walking in wisdom is not foolish debauchery, a life of excess and wastefulness, drunkenness, unrestrained and reckless living and it is not something we can do on our own. To Understand and apply God’s will requires God’s presence and guidance through the spirit. To be filled by the spirit is to be under the control/influence of the Spirit.
(V19-21) Wisdom is Habitual:
This is a repetitive action by which every believer submits their lives to the filling/work of Christ through the work of the Spirit. To be filled by the spirit is to be filled with with wisdom, joy, thanksgiving, obedience, fear of Christ.
