Three problems were destroying the unity of the Corinthians church from the inside. Pride, immorality, and envy.

Walk in Humility

They were “puffed up” with pride in arguing over who was the better teacher.
Pride causes us to have a higher view of ourselves or our group than we ought.
Pride leads to excusing sin in our own lives or in the community of the church.
Pride causes us to see sin as less serious than God does.
Pride is of the Devil himself: Isaiah 14:12-15
Isaiah 14:12–15 NASB95
12 “How you have fallen from heaven, O star of the morning, son of the dawn! You have been cut down to the earth, You who have weakened the nations! 13 “But you said in your heart, ‘I will ascend to heaven; I will raise my throne above the stars of God, And I will sit on the mount of assembly In the recesses of the north. 14 ‘I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High.’ 15 “Nevertheless you will be thrust down to Sheol, To the recesses of the pit.
Pride cuts us off from fellowship with God.
James 4:6–7 ESV
But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
Paul’s response to their pride in arguing was to point to his own low position in the world’s eyes. verse

Walk in Purity

Corporately - the Corinthians were ignoring sin in their midst.
Paul knew that to ignore sin in the camp would lead to disaster for the congregation.
We are accountable to the Lord, and as a body of believers, to one another.
The church discipline was for the purpose of promoting repentance.

Live for God’s Glory

Whenever the church becomes more concerned with what other people or the world think, rather than what God says, it always looses its purpose.
As believers we must realize that we have a new purpose, it is to Glorify the Lord Jesus Christ in our body here on earth.
We are bought with a price.
1 Peter 1:17–19 NKJV
17 And if you call on the Father, who without partiality judges according to each one’s work, conduct yourselves throughout the time of your stay here in fear; 18 knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.
Christ is our Passover Lamb, he went as a lamb to the slaughter. Isaiah 53:7 “7 He was oppressed and He was afflicted, Yet He did not open His mouth; Like a lamb that is led to slaughter, And like a sheep that is silent before its shearers, So He did not open His mouth.”
When we come together as a body of believers it should be for the purpose of worshipping the Lord in sincerity and truth.
