John 7:53-8:11 not in the oldest manuscripts. 8:12-30 Jesus, light of the world. I am he.
Explain the PPT – and what we believe about Scripture. When then should we do with passage? Well, I think it wise not to build one’s theology only on this passage. What does the passage teach? Is that also taught in other passages, was this added because a problem in the early church? (Forgiveness). If most agree that this did happen, then what do we lean? Let’s take a look.
53) all leave for their hose. 8:1) Jesus went to the Mount of Olives. 2) Early Jesus went to the temple, people came to him, and Jesus sat down to teach them.
3) The scribes and Pharisees, play the same role in this passage as others, to trap Jesus be able to condemn him. The bring a woman caught in adultery, and out he in the midst of the people. 4-5) The law say she should be stoned, - What do you say?
6) explains this is a test, will Jesus reject the Law of Moses, or reject the Roman law? For many an impossible test.  – Jesus’ response is interesting; he does not respond but bend down and wrote with his finger – as he was doing before he was interrupted.
7) They keep asking Jesus, then he stands back up, and respond, (Don’t throw with rocks if you live in a glass house, no he does not but) He dose say: If you are Holy you can cast the first stone, if you have no sin, you can throw the first stone. Jesus dose not reject or break the Jewish law or the Roman, - (mic drop) one more thing: The whole premise and the situation compared at the words from the law is very lacking, - focus is on the man, but there is no man, only a woman, feels like a rigged trial. Now the law is good and was to keep the people Holy and clean, and stop anyone committing adultery. So, who then is most unclean the people trying to trap Jesus so they can accuse him, and kill him? Or the woman they bring before Jesus?  - no compassion and bad leadership and they don’t listen to Jesus teaching the interrupt for their own agenda.
8) Jesus bent down to write on the ground again,
9) It turns out none of the people were Holy and not willing to break the Roman law, - no execution and the Romans did not really see unfaithfulness as something so bad.
10) Jesus sands up again after the people leave, and asks, where are they? Has one condemned/sentenced you? (At this point Jesus knows this so why does he ask? – could be that he what her to see and feel it) -
11) her response: No none Lord. But it is not over yet, because Jesus can cast the first stone, he is Holy, so what will he do? Jesus responds, I affirm your lifestyle you be you… No, he does not, instead he shows her grace and mercy and does not condemn/sentence her to death as she deserves so does the Pharisees and the Scribes and you and me, but as John said in chapter 3:16-17 God so loved the world that he send his son, and the son did not come to judge/condemn the world, but that it might be saved by Jesus.
We are all in need of a savior we have all broken the law of God, it is easy to see others sin, and what they deserve and rightly so, we have all gone astray and rebelled against God.
But as Jesus did not condemn you before he went to the cross, (to die for sin and resurrect and asend and to come back, then to judge the living and the dead). so he responds with grace, he dose say to the woman as he did to the man he healed from now on sin no more…
12) Again, Jesus spoke; I am the light of the world, - Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life. – Instead of listening to his words and walk in light, understanding or misunderstanding the Psalms, Isaiah, about the messiah being a light.
13) Or they do and call Jesus out as one that just is witnessing about himself. – therefore it cant be true, -  (well that is not logically true Jesus could speak truth about himself).
14) Jesus in this verse rebukes their objections, with the same arguments He has used before, that what he is saying is true it because of who send him, (God) therefore Jesus is baring witness about God, - and Jesus expose that they don’t know God, and that as Jesus stated before Jesus will back to God that send him, (Jesus know who send him and where he is from)
15) Pointing to the problem that we talked about a few times, that they judge affording to the flesh, - And don’t understand Jesus, who is speaking about spiritual/ faith things,
16) Jesus, will not judge on the earth the first time, - and Jesus say even if he did his judgment would be true, because it would be thea judgement along with the Father.
17-18) Jesus explains how he and his father are true witnesses and for fills the laws requiems about 2 persons, is true, Jesus and the father.
19) They say where is your father, - Well you don’t know neither me nor my Father, - if you knew me you would know my Father. (could they be thinking his father in the flesh?).
20) Jesus’ hour had not yet come to as Jesus spoke the words in the treasury He was not arrested,
21) Jesus upping the rhetoric and restating what he said earlier, that I am going away, and you will seek me, and not find me – no you will die in your sin. You can’t come where I am going. Jesus stating what is at stake if they reject him.
22) Not listening to his waring about dying in their sin, the focus on the wrong part, - and ask if Jesus is going to kill himself, - they are close, - He will not kill himself many will want to kill him.
23) Jesus saying, I am from above, you are from below and from this world I am not. – giving them one more chance: you will die in your sins, as I said just before, unless you believe that I am he. – If you don’t you will die in your sins, - because if you don’t believe in me you have none to take away your sins.
25-26) again not responding to Jesus words, they ask Jesus who he is. The one I said I am from the beginning, - I declare all that I have heard form the one that send me.
27-29) not understand what Jesus said 28) Jesus say what he said to Nicodemus a bit different. When you have lifted up the son of man, then you will know that I am he. And that I do nothing on my own authority, but speak just what the father taught me. – And he who send me is with me, I am not left alone, I always pleas him. (God is with Jesus, and he is not alone, not separated by sin always pleasing God the father).
30) many believed in him, they -
