We are introduced to the three of us in verse 22. Who are the personalities, they are (Wives, Husbands, and the Lord)
This is a specific address to a marriage relationship, (between one husband and one wife) (You go to work and the boss says submit to me woman! or a brother in the church, says submit to me woman, you say, I’m sorry, but you don’t look anything like my husband.
It is an imperative. It is an instruction, not a suggestion (to not do it is to be disobedient, disobedience in scripture is never tied to a blessing) But disobedience in scripture is tied to..., How many lives of wives are being impacted negatively, because they are not positively carrying out this instruction.
Its tense is present, here and now you might say, but the time of completion is undefined. This is not something you do on Sundays only, it is a regular practice in a specific marital relationship.
Middle voice, nobody does this for you, you have to do it yourself. This is an action that you take. If it is not happening in the marital relationship, the first place where we start looking is in the mirror.
The direct object of this action by wives is to their husbands. The indirect objection of this action is the Lord. The execution of this action, has two modifiers, it has a direct object and an indirect object. (My husband and My Lord)
Wives you are told how to do this, (it is an adverbial comparative), think of the way you submit or should submit to the Lord, then keep that picture in mind as you think of how you submit to your husband.
