we hear that word, used, we even use that word in songs…

what does it mean? It is a word that is transliterated

meaning, not translated, just written with our alphabet so that we can more or less pronounce it

ie: Eden is a Hebrew word for paradise. But we say “Eden” because names typically are transliterated

you may have heard the word “Armageddon”- this is a name that literally means the plains of Migiddo.

Hallelujah is transliterated

it contains two parts:

1. hallelu - Give praise to

2. Yah- Yahweh, the name of the one true God

Why are we praising God?

For who he is.

He is True

He is Just

He will judge

He is Holy

Worship God!

we can only worship God through Jesus

we can only be made pure and become pure in Christ

as the author of hebrews says, apart from faith in God, “It is impossible to please God”

we’ve been throwing the word “worship” around a lot, and I assume everyone has a decent definition for it

we tend to immediately think of worship music

worshiping is singing, but not limitted to that

serving others.. mmmhmmm

Worship is what you love, what you are in awe of, what you hope will make you happy

“Worship God!” says the angel

angel literally means, messenger

love the message, not the messenger

Love Jesus, not the pastor who preaches him

Love Jesus, not the music that sings about him

Love Jesus, don’t just love the bible

don’t love the messenger, love the message
