Μετὰ ταῦτα ἦν ⸆ ἑορτὴ τῶν Ἰουδαίων ⸇ καὶ ἀνέβη ⸆1 Ἰησοῦς εἰς Ἱεροσόλυμα.*

2 Ἔστιν δὲ ἐν τοῖς Ἱεροσολύμοις ⸂ἐπὶ τῇ προβατικῇ κολυμβήθρα ἡ ἐπιλεγομένη⸃ Ἑβραϊστὶ ⸀Βηθζαθὰ πέντε στοὰς ἔχουσα.* 3 ἐν ταύταις κατέκειτο πλῆθος ⸆ τῶν ἀσθενούντων,* τυφλῶν, χωλῶν, ξηρῶν ⸇. ⸆1 *5 ἦν δέ ⸂τις ἄνθρωπος ἐκεῖ⸃ ⸄τριάκοντα [καὶ] ὀκτὼ ἔτη⸅ ἔχων ἐν τῇ ἀσθενείᾳ αὐτοῦ·* 6 τοῦτον ἰδὼν ὁ Ἰησοῦς κατακείμενον καὶ γνοὺς ὅτι πολὺν ⸂ἤδη χρόνον ἔχει⸃, λέγει αὐτῷ· θέλεις ὑγιὴς γενέσθαι;* 7 ⸀ἀπεκρίθη αὐτῷ ὁ ἀσθενῶν· κύριε, ἄνθρωπον οὐκ ἔχω ἵνα ὅταν ταραχθῇ τὸ ὕδωρ βάλῃ με εἰς τὴν κολυμβήθραν· ἐν ᾧ δὲ ἔρχομαι ἐγώ, ἄλλος πρὸ ἐμοῦ καταβαίνει⸆.* 8 λέγει αὐτῷ ὁ Ἰησοῦς· ἔγειρε ἆρον τὸν κράβαττόν σου καὶ περιπάτει.* 9 ⸂καὶ εὐθέως⸃ ἐγένετο ὑγιὴς ὁ ἄνθρωπος καὶ ἦρεν τὸν κράβαττον αὐτοῦ καὶ περιεπάτει.

Ἦν δὲ σάββατον ⸋ἐν ἐκείνῃ τῇ ἡμέρᾳ⸌. 10 ἔλεγον οὖν οἱ Ἰουδαῖοι τῷ τεθεραπευμένῳ· σάββατόν ἐστιν,* καὶ οὐκ ἔξεστίν σοι ἆραι τὸν κράβαττόν °σου. *11 ⸂ὁ δὲ⸃ ἀπεκρίθη αὐτοῖς· ὁ ποιήσας με ὑγιῆ ἐκεῖνός μοι εἶπεν· ἆρον τὸν κράβαττόν σου καὶ περιπάτει. 12 ⸋ἠρώτησαν ⸀αὐτόν· τίς ἐστιν ὁ ἄνθρωπος ὁ εἰπών σοι· ἆρον ⸆ καὶ περιπάτει;⸌ 13 ὁ δὲ ⸀ἰαθεὶς οὐκ ᾔδει τίς ἐστιν, ὁ ⸁γὰρ Ἰησοῦς ⸀1ἐξένευσεν ὄχλου ὄντος ἐν τῷ τόπῳ. 14 μετὰ ταῦτα εὑρίσκει αὐτὸν °ὁ Ἰησοῦς ἐν τῷ ἱερῷ καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ· ἴδε ὑγιὴς γέγονας, μηκέτι ἁμάρτανε, ἵνα μὴ χεῖρόν ⸉σοί τι⸊ γένηται.* 15 ⸀ἀπῆλθεν ὁ ἄνθρωπος καὶ ⸁ἀνήγγειλεν τοῖς Ἰουδαίοις ὅτι Ἰησοῦς ἐστιν ὁ ποιήσας αὐτὸν ὑγιῆ.* 16 καὶ διὰ τοῦτο ἐδίωκον ⸂οἱ Ἰουδαῖοι τὸν Ἰησοῦν⸃, ὅτι ταῦτα ⸀ἐποίει ἐν σαββάτῳ.

17 Ὁ δὲ °[Ἰησοῦς] ἀπεκρίνατο αὐτοῖς·* ὁ πατήρ μου ἕως ἄρτι ἐργάζεται κἀγὼ ἐργάζομαι·* 18 διὰ τοῦτο °οὖν μᾶλλον ⸉ἐζήτουν αὐτὸν οἱ Ἰουδαῖοι ἀποκτεῖναι⸊, ὅτι οὐ μόνον ἔλυεν τὸ σάββατον,* ἀλλὰ καὶ πατέρα ἴδιον ἔλεγεν τὸν θεὸν ἴσον ἑαυτὸν ποιῶν τῷ θεῷ.

19 Ἀπεκρίνατο οὖν ⸋ὁ Ἰησοῦς⸌ καὶ ⸀ἔλεγεν αὐτοῖς· ἀμὴν ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν,* οὐ δύναται ὁ υἱὸς ⸆ ποιεῖν ⸇ ἀφʼ ἑαυτοῦ ⸁οὐδὲν ⸀1ἐὰν μή τι βλέπῃ τὸν πατέρα ποιοῦντα· ἃ γὰρ ἂν ἐκεῖνος ποιῇ,* ταῦτα καὶ ὁ υἱὸς ⸉ὁμοίως ποιεῖ⸊. 20 ὁ γὰρ πατὴρ φιλεῖ τὸν υἱὸν καὶ πάντα δείκνυσιν αὐτῷ ἃ αὐτὸς ποιεῖ,* καὶ μείζονα τούτων δείξει αὐτῷ ἔργα,* ἵνα ὑμεῖς ⸀θαυμάζητε.* 21 ὥσπερ γὰρ ὁ πατὴρ ἐγείρει τοὺς νεκροὺς καὶ ζῳοποιεῖ, οὕτως καὶ ὁ υἱὸς οὓς θέλει ζῳοποιεῖ.* 22 οὐδὲ γὰρ ὁ πατὴρ κρίνει οὐδένα, ἀλλὰ τὴν κρίσιν πᾶσαν δέδωκεν τῷ υἱῷ, *23 ἵνα πάντες τιμῶσιν τὸν υἱὸν καθὼς τιμῶσιν τὸν πατέρα.* ὁ μὴ τιμῶν τὸν υἱὸν οὐ τιμᾷ τὸν πατέρα τὸν πέμψαντα αὐτόν.

*24 Ἀμὴν ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι ὁ τὸν λόγον μου ἀκούων καὶ πιστεύων τῷ πέμψαντί με ἔχει ζωὴν αἰώνιον καὶ εἰς κρίσιν οὐκ ἔρχεται,* ἀλλὰ μεταβέβηκεν ἐκ τοῦ θανάτου εἰς τὴν ζωήν. 25 ἀμὴν ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι ἔρχεται ὥρα ⸋καὶ νῦν ἐστιν⸌ ὅτε οἱ νεκροὶ ⸀ἀκούσουσιν τῆς φωνῆς τοῦ υἱοῦ τοῦ θεοῦ καὶ °οἱ ἀκούσαντες ⸁ζήσουσιν. 26 ⸀ὥσπερ γὰρ ὁ πατὴρ ἔχει ζωὴν ἐν ἑαυτῷ,* οὕτως ⸉καὶ τῷ υἱῷ ἔδωκεν ζωὴν⸊ ἔχειν ἐν ἑαυτῷ. 27 καὶ ἐξουσίαν ἔδωκεν αὐτῷ ⸆ κρίσιν ποιεῖν, ὅτι υἱὸς ἀνθρώπου ἐστίν.* 28 μὴ θαυμάζετε τοῦτο,* ὅτι ἔρχεται ὥρα ἐν ᾗ πάντες οἱ ἐν τοῖς μνημείοις ⸀ἀκούσουσιν τῆς φωνῆς αὐτοῦ 29 καὶ ἐκπορεύσονται οἱ τὰ ἀγαθὰ ποιήσαντες εἰς ἀνάστασιν ζωῆς,* ⸂οἱ δὲ⸃ τὰ φαῦλα πράξαντες εἰς ἀνάστασιν κρίσεως.

*30 Οὐ δύναμαι ἐγὼ ποιεῖν ἀπʼ ἐμαυτοῦ ⸀οὐδέν·* καθὼς ἀκούω κρίνω,* καὶ ἡ κρίσις ἡ ἐμὴ δικαία ἐστίν, ✽ ὅτι οὐ ζητῶ τὸ θέλημα τὸ ἐμὸν ἀλλὰ τὸ θέλημα τοῦ πέμψαντός με⸆.*

Translation
[1] After this there was a feast in Judea and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
[2] And in Jerusalem there is on the sheep gate a pool named in Hebrew, Bethzatha that has five porticos.
[3] In this [pool] many who were sick, blind, lame, and paralyzed would lay down.
[4 Doubtful] For an angel of the Lord/God according to the season would come down in the pool and trouble the water. So then the first would embark on the troubled water and become healthy sometimes restraining the disease.
[5] And there was a man there who had been sick thirty and eight years.
[6] This man Jesus saw laying down and knowing he had been there a great time, said to him, “Do you want to become well?”
[7] The sick one answered him, “Lord, a man I do not have, when the water is troubled, to throw me into the pool. And when I do come, another has gone down before me.
[8] Jesu said to him, “Get up, take up your mattress and walk.”
[9] And immediately the man was healed and he picked up his mattress and walked. But that day was a Sabbath.
[10] Now the Jews said to the healed one, “It is the Sabbath, and it is not authorized for you to take up your mattress.
[11] But he replied, “The one who healed me said to me, ‘Take up your mattress and walk.’”
[12] They asked him, “Who is the man who said to you, ‘Take up and walk.’?”
[13] But he did not know who healed him, for Jesus had withdrawn from the crowd in that place.
[14] After this he found Jesus in the temple and [Jesus] said to him, “Behold you have been healed, sin no more, so that you do not become something worse.”
[15] The man departed and announced to the Jews that Jesus is the one who had healed him.
[16] And after this, the Jews persecuted Jesus, for this had happened on the Sabbath.
[17] But Jesus answered them, “My father until now is working and I am working.
[18] From then on the Jews were seeking to kill him, that not only destroyed the Sabbath, but also he called God Father making himself equal with God.
[19] Now Jesus answered and said to them, “Truly truly I say to you, the Son does not do anything that he himself does not see the Father doing. For what that [one] does, the Son does also.
[20] For the Father loves the Son and makes known to him all that he does, and the works he shows are great, so that you might be marvel.
[21] For just as the Father raises the dead and gives life, so also the Son wants to give life.
[22] Neither does the Father judge anyone, but the judgement of everyone he grants to the Son,
[23] in order that Son is honored just as the Father is honored. The one who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent him.
[24] Truly truly I say to you that the one who hears my word and believes the one who sent me has life eternal and judgement is not in him, but passes over out of death into life.
[25] Truly truly I say to you that the hour has come and now is that the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God and those who hear will live.
[26] For just as the Father has life in himself, in the same way the Son gives life that he has in himself.
[27] And he who was given the authority to judge, is the Son of Man.
[28] Do not be amazed at this, the hour has come in which everyone in the tombs will hear his voice
[29] and they will come out, the good to resurrection of life, but those who do evil into the resurrection of judgement.
[30] I do not do anything from myself, I judge what I hear, and my judgement is righteous, not seeking my will but the will of the one who sent me.
