Main Point--Submit to authority & Put on Christ's Love.
Why is this important?
When we resist authority we resist God who placed authorities over all of us. To help us with this, Christ calls us to put on his love which will show others who's authority we truly are under.
2 Good reasons for submitting to authority:
#1. I avoid God's wrath.
#2. I do what is right.
Reference--1 Peter 2:13-25, be subject for God to every human institution, it is the will of God, use your freedom not to do evil but to be a servant of God, honor everybody, show respect to good & unjust masters, no credit for being beaten because you are sinning, but if you do good and suffer it is good in God's sight, Christ suffered as an example, so that you may follow in his steps.
2 Good Reasons for putting on Christ's love:
#1. God's law is fulfilled in me.
Reference--Romans 8:3-6, God did fulfilled the law through Jesus, what we could not do in our weak flesh, he condemned sin in the flesh (his death) in order that the righteous requirement of the law would be fulfilled in us. Walk according to the Spirit not the flesh, set your minds (conscience) on the Spirit, flesh is death, Spirit is life & peace.
#2. I won't desire my flesh.
Reference--Ephesians 4:20-32, put off your old self, replace it with the renewing of your mind by the Spirit, put on your new self, created in the likeness of God, in true righteousness and holiness.
