CAN WE JUST GET ALONG

INTRODUCTION:
MOST DISAGREEMENTS HAPPENS IN A RELATIONSHIPS WHEN THE TWO CANNOT COME TO A SOLUTION TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM. THEY RATHER ALLOW THE DISAGREEMENT TO LINGER INSTEAD OF GOING TO THE SOURCE WHO HAVE THE TRUTH OF THE PROBLEM.
MOST OF THE TIME WHAT KEEP US FROM RECONCILIATION IS THE SPIRIT OF HAVING TO BE RIGHT. THAT IS A CHILD SPIRIT THAT HAVE TO HAVE IT THEY OWN WAY.
PAUL SAID THE KEY TO A HEALTHY RELATIONSHIP IS HUMILITY.
A. SURRENDERING
Philippians 2:5–7 “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: but made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:”
JESUS CHRIST WILLING GAVE UP HIS POWER AND STATUE TO BECOME A SERVANT BY PUTTING HIMSELF IN A LOWER POSITION FOR THE SAKE OF OTHERS.
HOW MANY OF US ARE WILLING TO LET GO OUR EGOS IN OUR RELATIONSHIPS WITH EACH OTHER, SO THAT IT CAN BRING HARMONY TO THE RELATIONSHIP.
RELATIONSHIPS ARE GIVE AND TAKE. SOMETIMES YOU HAVE TO GIVE IN , MEANING I DON’T HAVE TO HAVE THE LAST WORD.
THEN YOU NEED TO KNOW HOW TO TAKE SOMETHINGS WITHOUT A RESPONSE BACK, BECAUSE WHEN YOU DO THIS, IT PUT OUT FIRES.
THE PROBLEM THAT MOST OF US HAVE , WE HAVE NOT LEARN HOW TO SURRENDER TO GOD IN ORDER FOR US TO SURRENDER TO ANYTHING THAT IS HUMAN.
THAT’S WHY MANY OF US STRUGGLE WITH AUTHORITY, BECAUSE WE HAVE NOT LEARNED HOW TO SERVE UNDER AUTHORITY. JESUS WAS EQUAL TO GOD BY ALL MEANS, BUT HE LEARN HOW TO SERVE UNDER.
SURRENDERING IS SEEING THINGS FROM GOD’S PERSPECTIVE AND NOT YOUR OWN. BECAUSE IF I ONLY SEE THINGS FROM MY OWN PERSPECTIVE, I AM BRING THE ATTENTION TO MYSELF.
SOMETIMES YOU HAVE TO GIVE UP YOUR RIGHT SO THAT YOU CAN GET YOU SOME TRUTH.
2 Corinthians 8:9 “For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.”
B. SUBMITTING
Philippians 2:7–8 “but made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: and being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.”
IN ORDER FOR US TO BE ABLE TO SUBMIT IN ANY RELATIONSHIP, WE MUST BE WILLING TO PUT SOMEONE ELSE NEEDS BEFORE OUR OWN NEEDS. MEANING WE MUST CONSIDER THAT SOMEONE ELSE NEEDS ARE MORE IMPORTANT THAN OUR OWN NEEDS.
THIS IS AN ACTION OF HAVING THE MIND OF CHRIST, SUBMITTING TO THE WILL OF GOD.
I AM NOT SAYING YOUR’RE BEING WEAK, BUT YOU HAVE A STRONG WILL TO DO THE WILL OF YOUR FATHER GOD.
WHEN YOU VALUE OTHER’S ABOVE YOURSELF. YOU’RE PUTTING THE ATTENTION ON THEM AND NOT YOURSELVES. JESUS NEVER BROUGHT ATTENTION TO HIMSELF TO BE PLEASING IN THE SIGHT OF MAN, BUT HE BECAME OBEDIENT UNTO DEATH, EVEN THE DEATH OF THE CROSS.
WHEN YOU SUBMIT TO GOD FIRST IT IS EASY TO SUBMIT TO OTHER’S. THE MOST IMPORTANT THING WE NEED TO BE CONCERN WITH IS PLEASING GOD.
Matthew 20:28 “even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.”
C. SACRIFICING
Philippians 2:8–11 “and being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”
WHAT IS SACRIFICING? IT IS THE WILL TO GIVE ONESELF SELFLESSLY FOR THE SAKE OF OTHER’S. THIS IS WHAT JESUS DID FOR EACH ONE OF US.
EVEN THOU WE WAS GUILTY OF THE OFFENSE OF SIN, GOD THROUGH JESUS SETTLE THE PENALTY OF SIN ONCE AND FOR ALL THROUGH THE DEATH OF HIS SON JESUS CHRIST.
JESUS SACRIFICED HIS LIFE SO THAT WE CAN HAVE HARMONY WITH GOD AND WITH EACH OTHER.
A SACRIFICE IS NOT A SACRIFICE UNTIL YOU ARE WILLING TO GIVE UP SOMETHING YOU TREASURE THE MOST.
John 13:13–17 “Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am. If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another’s feet. For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you. Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him. If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them.”
