How do we obtain peace

Treasures from Proverbs, Volume 5 Chapter 5: Proverbs on Humility

It is the trait of humility. Because we tend to be selfish and proud, we struggle to keep an attitude of humility in our lives.

rld cannot give (John 14:27). In Him, the fulfillment of faith leads to lasting peace, as He calms the storms of life and assures us of His presence.

Big Idea: Genuine faith in God leads to profound peace in our lives, illuminating the path through life’s trials and uncertainties.
Recommended Study: Consider exploring how faith and peace are interconnected in various Biblical texts. Dive into the book of Philippians (Philippians 4:6-7) and examine the role of prayer in cultivating peace. Using Logos, investigate commentaries that discuss Pauline theology on peace, as well as Hebrew texts that outline peace (shalom) in the Old Testament context.

1. Persistent Prayer Produces Peace

Philippians 4:6-7
Perhaps you could explore how praying in every circumstance guards your heart with God's peace. Highlight that trust in God's steadfastness results in a sense of calm, as Paul instructs believers to replace anxiety with prayer and supplication. Through this transformative relationship, faith becomes the vessel through which God imparts peace into our lives.

2. Steadfast Minds, Steadfast Peace

Isaiah 26:3-4
You might suggest examining the unwavering peace that comes from trusting in God. This passage highlights God's perfect peace for those whose minds are steadfast because they trust Him. Emphasize the comprehensive nature of this peace and how faith acts as the foundation on which this peace is built, encouraging steadfastness amidst trials.

3. Christ's Comforting Assurance

John 14:27
Maybe illustrate the unique peace Jesus offers, distinct from the world’s fleeting comforts. This peace originates from Christ’s assurance of His ongoing presence and the Holy Spirit's work. Stress that faith in Jesus' words and promises grants believers enduring peace, even amidst worldly challenges and tribulations.

4. Faith over Fear in Storms

Mark 4:39-40
Consider reflecting on the disciples' fear during the storm and Jesus' authoritative peace-command. Here, Jesus showcases divine power over chaos, encouraging faith over fear. Use this narrative to inspire confidence that with faith in Christ, any storm can be calmed, and peace can reign.
