John 3:9-21
Intro to todays lesson.
Q. What would you say? Q. How would you respond? You might say “you mean my citizenship isn’t good enough for you? Hogwash!! I am not going to fill out an application to become what I already have a birth right to!
This is how Nicodemus felt. He was a Jew, pharisee
2. Last week - Nicodemus goes to Jesus at night to talk about something which is not recorded here in John what or why Nicodemus went to see Him. Jesus went directly to the heart of the matter after Nicodemus said “we know that you are a teacher who has come from God”…
Jesus did not even acknowledge what Nicodemus said to Him, rather, He tells Nicodemus …”No one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born from above”
How many of you are US citizens? All of us, right! You were born in this country - therefore you are a US because of your birth right. You are entitled to all the laws, protections and benefits of being a US citizen. Think about the many freedoms, benefits and blessings of being an American. Many!
Now imagine you are having a conversation with someone from the government and they say you must become a US citizen again…You need to go through this process that they lay out.
