Have you ever asked yourself questions such as:
Should I go to church?
Why don’t we curse?
Why do we try not to lie, steal and cheat?
Why do we have church so many times in one week? (SS, 11 AM, 6 PM, Wednesday, Sat. Soul winning) and should I be going to all of those services?
Why do we need to read our Bible or pray?
Why do we dress modestly?
Should we really be giving 10% of our income to God?
Why do we send money to missionaries who go to different countries?
Why do we have an altar and altar call?
Why do we sing certain types songs in church and not something like contemporary Christian music or Christian rap?
Why should I involve myself in this church?
Wouldn’t it be easier to:
Keep my beliefs to myself?
and watch TV every day instead of read my Bible?
and dress in a way that people in society approve of?
while using any language that flows out of my mouth without restraint?
Think about the extra time you would have if you didn’t go to church 10 am, 11 am, 6 pm, Wednesday at 7 pm and soul winning at 10 pm on Saturdays?
Think how many more friends I could have if I would just drink, smoke and allow my immorality to rule the day?
6 Seek ye the Lord while he may be found,
Call ye upon him while he is near:
7 Let the wicked forsake his way,
And the unrighteous man his thoughts:
And let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him;
And to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.
8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
Neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord.
9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are my ways higher than your ways,
And my thoughts than your thoughts.
10 For as the rain cometh down,
And the snow from heaven,
And returneth not thither,
But watereth the earth,
And maketh it bring forth and bud,
That it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:
11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth:
It shall not return unto me void,
But it shall accomplish that which I please,
And it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
12 For ye shall go out with joy,
And be led forth with peace:
The mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing,
And all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.
13 Instead of the thorn shall come up the fir tree,
And instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle tree:
And it shall be to the Lord for a name,
For an everlasting sign that shall not be cut off.
As a human race, we have a big problem…
We have been rejecting God’s authority over our lives since the very beginning…
Adam and Eve rejected God’s authority in the Garden of Eden when they chose to eat of the fruit that God said not too in direct disobedience to His authoritative will…
Mankind is rejecting every bit of authority that stands in between them and what they want…
Authority: legal power; the lawful right to enforce obedience
Statement for the message: God bears the lawful right to demand a specific way of living over your life

1. I am Required to Yield My Way
1. I am Required to Yield My Way
6 Seek ye the Lord while he may be found,
Call ye upon him while he is near:
7 Let the wicked forsake his way,
Way: Course of life or mode of action
God’s way is supreme
1 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.
18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

3. I am Required to Yield to His Word
7 Let the wicked forsake his way,
And the unrighteous man his thoughts:
And let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him;
And to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.
8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
Neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord.
9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are my ways higher than your ways,
And my thoughts than your thoughts.
10 For as the rain cometh down,
And the snow from heaven,
And returneth not thither,
But watereth the earth,
And maketh it bring forth and bud,
That it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:
11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth:
It shall not return unto me void,
But it shall accomplish that which I please,
And it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
God’s Word holds authority…
a.) God’s Word is forever
89
For ever, O Lord,
Thy word is settled in heaven.
35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.
6 The words of the Lord are pure words:
As silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.
7 Thou shalt keep them, O Lord,
Thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.
8 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth:
But the word of our God shall stand for ever.
b.) God’s Word is powerful
12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
c.) God’s Word is Sure
9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are my ways higher than your ways,
And my thoughts than your thoughts.
10 For as the rain cometh down,
And the snow from heaven,
And returneth not thither,
But watereth the earth,
And maketh it bring forth and bud,
That it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:
11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth:
It shall not return unto me void,
But it shall accomplish that which I please,
And it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
19 God is not a man, that he should lie;
Neither the son of man, that he should repent:
Hath he said, and shall he not do it?
Or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?
d.) God’s Authority over Me
3 Know ye that the Lord he is God:
It is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves;
We are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
9 Woe unto him that striveth with his Maker!
Let the potsherd strive with the potsherds of the earth.
Shall the clay say to him that fashioneth it, What makest thou?
Or thy work, He hath no hands?
13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. 14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.
Jesus to the disciples:
46 And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?
19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.
8 For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord’s.
When you reject God’s way, you reject God’s authority over your life…
48 He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.
You have the choice to reject God and His authority over your life…
But you and I will both answer for that…
Pharaoh Rejected God’s Authority
2 And Pharaoh said, Who is the Lord, that I should obey his voice to let Israel go? I know not the Lord, neither will I let Israel go.
2. Israel Rejected God’s Authority
7 And the Lord said unto Samuel, Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say unto thee: for they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected me, that I should not reign over them.
3. Nebuchadnezzar Rejected God’s Authority
30 The king spake, and said, Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for the house of the kingdom by the might of my power, and for the honour of my majesty?
When we reject God’s authority, we do so because His authority has been replaced with my desires…

Statement for the message: God bears the lawful right to demand a specific way of living over your life
Are you rejecting His authority in your life by ignoring the instruction from His Word?
Are you rejecting His authority in your life by telling God that you don’t need to obey Him in word or action?
Are you rejecting His authority in your life by wanting to be like the other nations and do what you want in place of what He requires?
Are you rejecting His authority in your life by being prideful and taking credit and glory that belongs to Him?
God is looking for a humble people who are willing to forsake their way and their thoughts in exchange for His perfect Word…
And then James 1:22
22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
